I run carpet/foam 19t and stock. The design of the knuckle leaves alot to be desired (imo). I found that with the slightest touch of a board the knuckle cracked. They don't break into pieces, although I've had that happen once, they develope a hair line crack that doesn't show unless you put some pressure on it by hand ..... anyway this goes a long way to solving my problem.


Nexus Racing -- I found that an extra axle shim (.008") next to the crush sleeve helps when tightening the wheel nut.

What kind of handling issues are you having? You shouldn't have to resort to a diff unless you are running foams on carpet..

Good idea using a broken bearing as a shim instead of using hundreds of the little ones

yes under the suspention blocks makesure you file down the front rear mount to clear the tie rods

i didnt really think there was anything wrong with the kit diffs... most use the HPI because they already have some, and the HB outdrives are $$!

HPI diffs are fine, and the one in the photo is replacing the rear diff.

All I get out of my cyclone is massive understeer, I have tried alot of things and have had alot of help and Im running out of things to try. I have never had this much trouble getting steering out of any other rc car.

Come on Josh, Have you tried different wheelbase and using wheel spacers to increase width of the car. That should give you all the steering you want.

are you running asphalt or carpet?both of my cyclones have a ton of steering.one has the one way and one has a spool and i run on asphalt rubber tires.if i can help you in any way let me know

The only changes I haven't made are ackermann changes. After that I have tried all the settings on the car.

Dan, I have shortened the wheelbase as much as possible and only then the steering is improved slightly. I have also tried the wheel track spacers. I even moved the front arms further back to get the weight over the front wheels some more.

protc3, I run on aspahlt, sometimes rubbers, sometimes foams.

I wonder what the chaces are of it lifting a wheel off the ground?

Firstly what tires are you using and are they fresh? IMO, tires are ~90% of the cars setup. Not just having the right ones, but having fresh ones (no more than 8-10 runs at most)

To my experience so far the Cyclone has the most steering out of any other car in the market.

I am surprised you are having troubles with steering.
It is very hard to know what the problem with your car is from the forum.
Maybe if you post some pics without wheels and a set up sheet with your current set up we could help you

Yea I agree, my Cyclone has tons of steering, I don't think I've ever had any even slight understeer in it before. What is your steering EPA like on your transmitter?
