Square case lipos will fit but will not sit flush. I have a SMC 5200 lipo in mine, held in with tape, that battery does not budge!

That's a shame... I hope that if/when the "R" comes out Tamiya redesign the chassis mould a little. Even Japan is moving to LiPo now.

Where are people getting their 3mm spacers from when fitting the alloy suspension mounts?

I was reluctantly going to use a few random plastic ones I had in my parts box (before I realised I didn't have an extra pair of the little ball ends for the front suspension pins!) but figure there must be some suitable alloy ones out there?

Cheers,

Mike

Oh - and can anyone confirm whether I'm supposed to use the original 1mm plastic spacer AND the 3mm spacer, or just the 3mm spacer?

I just built my first onroad and y first TB03. I am planning to run a pretty fast motor since i am just bashing around my culdasac. I want to run a motor that will perform well and run fast with my thunder power 40c 2s 5000 lipos and my mamba max pro ESC. I ned to know two things, what motor do you reccomend? Should I grab a mamba 5700, 4600,etc? Or go with a 5.5-8.5 turn type? #2) What pinion should I run with the stock spur gear to get best performance and temps? Any help is appreciated.

Been successful with the TB03 in the 17.5 class. But having problems against cars that have the Tekin RS with the new software. They can pull away on straight with ease.
Any good ESC/gear setup for a KO BMC/Trinity DUO? Want to have that "High end car killer" title again.

Racecrafter has the hookup for you for sure. That's basically what he runs and his car is whoop-ass fast. This coming from a Team Tekin guy...

For a stock BMC go to profile 5

Duo 1 with a FDR of 3.5 should get things kicking for you.

If you are running 5 minute races it will be tough to beat them on a long straight. 7 minute races in RCGT are easy because most guys over time their motors and speedos and around the 4:30 mark start to heat up and fade away.

Thanks for the info!
Going to experiment with various gear ratios from 4.3 to 3.6 with 0 timing and middle hole, timing 5 and 6. Wanted to get a lower ratio, but that's all I have for now. The base profile will be the Drew Ellis one, 0 drag brake.

Won't have the lap counter that day, so I'll just have to play it by temps. Our mains might be extended to 8 min, so things might work out a little different. Will report back later.

Default tire suggestions?

Hi there,

Just building a TB-03D but want to use it for street bashing and speed runs as well as drifting. What tires would you suggest for bashing and running on asphalt (nothing very smooth)?

Any other specific setup changes I should do to the TB-03D before running this way as well? Motor will be a Sidewinder 4600kv likely on 2s lipo.

Thx
Steph

What pinions does his car use? Is there a better option do do with the pinion spur? I need a 26-28 tooth pinion to run with the stock spur but not sure what to look for.
