Hey guys, Ive got some questions about F1. We are trying to get a class started at my local track indoor carpet track (MSI RACING in Roseville, MI)

We are considering our options for the class, and we are (sort of) settled on the following:

Spec ESC/Motor: Speed Passion Cirtix + 17.5 combo (not the comp motor, the cheap one)

Rubber Tires

Any F1 chassis (not corraly pan cars or whatever)

Can someone suggest a good spec rubber tire for carpet? Also, is 3racings f109 the best bang for the buck when it comes to f1 kits? It looks like most people will be running f109, f104 pro, etc. I think a couple of guys have the hpi kit as well. We want this to be a cheap, fun spec class with tight racing and cool looking cars!

Our class here in Tampa is "no boost" ESC and 21.5 and rubber tire, same thing, no Corally

Most everyone is running the HPI, but as the class is growing more guys have the F104, and 3 racing, all are capable in the right hands

I really and truly had it given to me as a gift. Now I’m trying to find the time to work on it. We had an unexpected guest come by yesterday and they stayed the night. So I wasn’t able to get any work done.

I did catch a minute to snag these pics of the body components…all seven of them.

abailey21 Those are Tamiya aluminum hex head screws.

I know everyone loves rubber tires, but make sure you have a reliable supply. TQ Raceway in California was bringing rubber tires, but until they started, nobody had tires in the USA.

Sean at TQ is stocking Ride, Tamiya and Shimizu rubber tires for F1 now.
He may run out of certain compounds, but he does re-order as long as the demand is there.

Yes, this is actually the way it went. I know these people - the pigs where shipped in the form of tacos and quesadillas!

The best part is having you again building, welcome back.

BTW I'm still waiting for a driver that was supposed to be at the wheel of my Sabuer C11

Cheers!

1/5 Gas F1 is still going strong in Europe, where the class was born. It and the 1/10 F1 are just not as popular in the US as overseas. Which I hope with the resurgence of R/C F1 will change. Unfortunatly as with 1/10 Pro-10 (235mm Pan) I think most people play it safe by running a class that is a bit more forgiving to drive (TC, SC, etc.) yet for me is more expensive.

On a "Nitro" Note the Ofna/Colt F1 nitro pan car has been around for some time through various stages, and as far as a good Nitro F1 chassis check the Serpent F180 (although very $$$). Also didn't MLP convert a Tamiya F1 to Nitro?

Oh well, I enjoy my F1 a lot, and hope the class grows and brings more enthusiasts into this great hobby!
