Tamiya mini cooper
...and another
Here are a few photos. It is cracking all around the steering posts. my steering was giving me problems when I first built my M05, ..somhoping this was caused early on and that the new setup I am using will cause less stress on my new chassis.
I never saw a chassis looking so bad, and I have at least one of every M-chassis. Iīd dare to say, that Tamiya produced a bunch with bad, too hard plastics, like recently on the TT02 knuckles. You couldnīt notice any difference from the look of the parts, but everyone using them noticed them cracking by very low effort. Your edge cracking completely out is totally unknown from my M05 and my M06. (but I bought them 3 years ago)
This is not normal Tamiya quality, Iīm sure...
I hope for you, there will be revised plastics soon, like on the TT02.

maybe you're tightening down your screws too much?
Holy...
Thanks for sharing the pics and these are surprising to me.
Btw, did you use original tamiya screw ?

Wow! I've never seen one break there. It's usually front shock towers and front lower suspension mounts. I'm curious to know about how tight the screws were done up, or if there was any chemical contamination in that area. I've seen plastics (on other items) craze and crack when exposed to things like CA glue thread lock, motor spray, contact cleaner, brake clean and even silicone spray. One of my chassis actually changed colour, from black to light grey with silicone spray and showed weird stress lines in the plastics. Whatever the case, those steering posts should be a relatively low impact area, compared to the rest of the front end.

That's an extreme break... Mini cars need attention around the screw areas with CA glue before Racing, and even more CA glue on the sidewalls of the Tires so they won't hook up to the walls in an accident....

That actually looks as if you Gorilla'd them screws in (Sorry Monkey, No Offense meant!)
How tight were the screws???

those pics of the breaks look horrible. I've never seen anything, EVER like that... wow
I like the new one-piece arms... can't wait until they become available separately looks like a good place for some weight reduction

Was curious how they would implement the droop adjustments... Interesting..
It looks like your using some kind of chemicals on the chassis... Threadlock will melt certian plastics as will motorspray/electronics cleaner.

Thanks for posting pics. My shopping list so far includes chassis parts and lower arms. Will be interesting to see the guts.
Received my sample today.
Looked through the kit and the changes look promising. Hopefully this '10th' post will allow adding pics haha.
I'll try my best to answer any questions any of you may have, specifically, regarding the M05v.2
