Here you go, coolair. Their test found the motors to be fairly close, but they noted this may have been a particularly consistent batch. The green dots represent the 20 motors they teted, straight out of the box. The orange dots represent some other motors tested for comparison.

I have almost every tamiya tire and sweep 36 and 25.
One more question.
I am setting up my play mini for a friend to give it a try. It does not have the adjustable rear camber links. When I set it up with my starting ride height of 5mm front and 4.5 rear, the rear has excessive rear camber. Should I run it like that or raise the ride height to get the rear camber to a reasonable setting?

Can anything be done to a black can motor to improve performance?

Everything that applies to silver can applies to black can. The only difference is a few winds and some black paint.

in past experience the black-cans were a lil more delicate to 'tweaks' (meaning that it was easy-er to overdo them). and if i recall correctly the gains were minimal comparatively. never hurts to try tho.. we all did.


Since I'm new to on-road I've got a few questions on my Esc / Motor setup.
Esc used is the Hobbyking HK-Sens-60, motor used is the Turnigy Trackstar 13.5T with adjustable timing.
First off I'm wondering whether or not to use drag brake.
For offroad I never used it, but I think it might be useful here.
Do you guys use drag brake (and if so, how much ?) ?
Then - the motor has adjustable timing (which afaik is fixed across all rpm's), the Esc has adjustable timing (Which if I'm correct is dynamic - the timing advances with the RPM's ?)
I figure setting the timing to high in the Esc would be good - or wouldn't it ?
Also, I happen to have a spare Hobbywing Sct Pro Esc (150A) - quite a different beast than this Hobbyking 60a, but looking at the Turnigy motor specs (Max amp draw 37a) it wouldn't do any good to use the bigger, heavier Hobbbywing instead of the Hobbyking, or would it ?

Problem is you are running a motor and ESC that is not common in Mini racing. So very few people will be in a position to advise.

I'll bite.
Drag brake is completely personal. Your driving style either works with it or it doesn't. The track layout makes a difference, too. On a tighter track, I'll tend to use a little more, as my hands don't react fast enough sometimes. The downside to drag brake is that if you don't control it properly, you will lose corner speed.
Start with physical timing (on the motor) and see where your temperature goes. Then, if you find you need a little more...something, mess with dynamic timing (on the ESC) and see where the temperature goes. It's best to work with one variable at a time, take notes and repeat.

Right now (no motor timing adjustment, esc timing normal) the motor doesn't get very warm at all. I'm comparing to the hobbywing 3656SD motor of my Short Course though, which gets very hot.
I'll try adjusting the motor timing, see where it gets me, and then optionally move on to esc timing.
Out of curiosity, what are common motors / escs used for the M05 ?
For local races here it's limited to the Carson Cup Machine / Tamiya Torque Tuned motors, brushed...
But since I'm not partaking in races anytime soon - I first just want to learn to drive - I went the fairly cheap brushless way as afaik brushless motors need less / no real maintenance.

Do you glue the whole sidewall or about 2mm fromt where the thread starts?

Just glue the Front tires from from the outside to the first thread notch
and wipe off the excess
