Risers? If I am understanding correctly, #4262 Front Ride Height Shims will allow you to set your front height to just over 4mm. If you only run smaller front tires (54mm and under), you can get by with one set. Otherwise, think about having two sets to work with.Bill
For the record, I run on carpet but was really just interested in these setup options and what affect they may have. These really aren't explained in the manual and other than track width, I really had never run accross these options.
Still Bill - Your other comments are much appreciated, exactly what I was looking for .... Thanks !

Actually I meant Riser Plate ? It's listed on the setup sheet and people tend to put yes or no (Wynn = No). Not sure what this is or what affect it has on the fornt end. It's not the ride height shims, it's apparently something else ?

Basically, the eight (8) gray #4 washers shown on Page 10 of the LE Assembly Manual replace the Riser Plate by bringing the Front End Plate up above the chassis plate for larger tires on the car.
Because I run smaller sized front tires all the time, I don't use these 8 gray washers. My LE's Front End Plate rests directly on the main chassis plate.

Make sure you run in the axles in the trailing position. Pick up the kydex and foam bumpers. Also make sure the car is balanced out, it is much more important to have it balanced than trying to get it to the 930 grams min. weight. When it comes time to race make sure your tires are small, as it really makes a difference. One last thing is to have extra kingpins on hand, they tend to bend or break. If you break one you will lose your spring too. It's a really a great car, easy to drive and fast.

Just reading some of the posts above, and noticed someone saying to have the axles trailing. I have the original X-10 and run outdoor on Medium/Low traction. I run in-line axles per manual. What effect does flipping them have?
#1464
I usually like more aggressive steering on all asphalt; so, I do have them in-line for that. Would typically have the wheelbase as long as possible at the front end too.

Try it out! Run them one way and then try them the other way. Neither way is going to be horribly undrivable. The worst that is going to happen is that you are not going to like how it feels. It is all driver preference. I am actually playing with the inline axles now.
Get out there and test! That is part of the fun of this hobby.
Looks like a fast field of cars are going to be running at Snowbirds. It will be a very good test of the stuff that I have been testing.

I'd LOVE to get out there testing. Get the violins out for this bit. I have a wife and kids, full time job, and am 30 minutes from the track, so i'm lucky to get one practice session between our monthly meets.
I do have 2 sets of front ends, so I may set them up identical except for the axle and then it will be a quick swap. Although, for now Ii'm probably better off getting my consistency better, then start tweaking stuff like that.
On the plus side, I raced last weekend with a couple of other guys at a new track, and my car was the only one that didn't look like it was racing on ice. Was nice to be the guy with the money set-up for a change!

Traction roll!
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated..
Gen X- 10 with Mikune chassis 17.5 1s open ESC
1/12 - 50 front springs
30,000 in the tubes
White side springs
Side wall glued front and rear, CRC purple spec foams
Med - to high grip carpet
First heat the car is pretty good, second heat as the traction comes up the car wants to traction roll?
Thoughts?

Are you running the 235mm wide configuration with a CanAm body?

I pretty much just use the gauge behind the front suspension.
Tend to run my car pretty flat; so, 4.2-4.4mm behind the front suspension means that nothing up front is under 4.0mm.
FYI...For me, going less than a 4.0mm ride height results in too much chassis drag through the corners.
