Thanks for the info Bent, I’ll have to pack my language translator. You guys are racing in January, isn’t it -12deg C there at the moment, that’s crazy! I’m assuming you don’t have any overheating motor problems there.

I hope everyone starts to get there buggies soon so we can get this forum rolling to post peoples set-ups and see what peoples likes/dislikes are and also report any particular part that keeps breaking/wearing so I can start organising some spares.

Hey ‘cloaked’ you should check out Northern Beaches Hobbies Centre it’s in your part of the world, Dee Why NSW. Go to this XRAY Australia RCTECH link http://www.rctech.net/forum/xray-aus...618-xb4-3.html

C'mon people, lets see some more photos of your builds!

In particular, some wiring shots! I'm very interested to see what electric setups fit in there, and more to the point, what receivers fit in the space they have allocated for it. They used the smallest receiver known to man for their promo shots, so I'm keen to know if others fit in - Futaba, Sanwa etc.

Spektrum SR3100 is a perfect fit, antenna can be routed directly from receiver into the antanna-pipe.

If a Lp servo is used there should not be a problem fitting any rx. Getting my Xb4 tomorrow. Can't wait anymore.

And if anyone want to race the petit race in january, you can find info about the race here.

Does the xb4 have the same plastic composition as the xb9? Looks the same in pictures. One of the things that annoys me about the other mfg's cars is the use cheaper/less durable plastic for arms and other bits on 1/10 than they do 1/8 scale.

Good to see kits are starting to hit the shops in the EU. Our kits should fly in over the weekend, so hopefully shops will have them by end of next week after we ship them out.

Plastic is high quality. We have hardly any slop after our test runs. I would say it is between the T4 and XB9 type of plastic for most pieces. As others have mentioned, the fit and finish is excellent.

Our 1/8 guys will be jealous of the diff access on the XB4, and the XB9 is as easy to work on as any 1/8 buggy! The suspension stays fully assembled during diff removal, with 4 screws and the sway bar being the only pieces to remove. Very well done.

I'm interested in seeing this. Wonder if it will translate over to the 1/8 eventually?

Just a heads up, XRay just posted this on FB. I always set my slipper on the loose side but I've heard about people locking the slipper down. Obviously, this is a big no-no on this car.
FYI, I not complaining, I just wanted to make sure everyone set the slipper up correctly so you don't ruin the diff gears.

Weight, noise, and cost.

XRay plastic is supposed to be top notch, but 4wd mod buggy is a huge stress on any drivetrain system. I've seen metal drive rings blown out before on other cars too.

In any case, slipper settings shouldn't be something the rehearsed rc racer has to be told. If you don't know that slippers are supposed to slip, you probably shouldn't be driving this car.

I don't see this car as one you can go balls to the wall with, either. I think this car is going to like to be driven right below the limit; in control and smooth.

Better mesh? Lighter weight? Self lubricating?

Check near the end of this thread for possible metal gear substitutes: http://forum.teamxray.com/viewtopic....=9162&start=20
