Durango DEX210 Thread

Do you all find it interesting that the car would be that far off? The post above said 45/40 oil with stock pistons? That's like heavy 1/8 scale territory. So to drop down to a 4 hole and still be at 30 wt. means Durango's recommended 6 hole is waaay off the mark. Oh well, we'll get it sorted out, but just found it interesting to be nowhere near close right outta the box.

PS.....
Is there a drill bit size that equates to 1.3 or 1.2? Or is that the size? I've never drilled my own from scratch, just made bigger to existing. Just wondering what the actual bit is. Drango kit comes with blanks I read.
I'm not getting my kit for a few more days, and like most of you, want a good ballpark place to start. Thanks!!

Depending on your track. I run the six hole pistons in both the 210 & 410. 35/30 rear. Seems good for me......

Are the 4 hole 1.2/1.3 pistons something that comes stock with kit? I know a bunch are included. Or did you drill the blank ones that come with it?

Just because all the set up sheets say to do this or that, dont count out the stock set up as a good starting point.........learn the car and make changes one at a time so you can get a feel for what the change is doing for the car. If you just automatically put 4 hole pistons in your car without ever trying the 6 hole, how will you know if your car is truly bettter FOR YOU....
And yes 45/40 with stock pistons would be way to heavy with the stock springs. I had 40 in my rears and felt like I had mud in the shocks LOL....

The stock setup is a good place to start. The biggest change needed is to close off some holes in the pistons- 3 or 4 hole seems to be where most a ending up. With the 6 hole pistons there just isn't enough pack and the car lands fairly hard off of even small jumps. Otherwise build it how the kit says and tune to your liking.

From Hopsing's and Bman's posts above, I am going to stick with the stock 6 hole and probably throw in some AE 35/30 to start, see where it takes me. Thanks for the input.
I wonder if the nature of the fatter shock just calls for thicker oil? Say compared to the thinner B4 style? Does that have anything to do with it? Just when I heard these thicker oil numbers being thrown around, I was like whaow.....1/8 scale.

What is stock spur? Anyone running 8.5 or close? What pinion matches up well? Thanks.
