I just ran mine for the first time and these seem way undergeared. I ran a 13T pinion on Hyper 10sc and it seemed alot faster. Does anybody know if the spur tooth count is differant from the TT to the SC. Maybe I could put the 10sc steel spur on the TT to make it worth racing tomarrow. Now i see why guys are running 4.5 motors and like 16T pinion. I wish i had a 16 or 17T pinion in my junk pile. Other than that I thaught it had real nice track manors and handling was on par.

Vxl motor/esc. Same motor I ran in the Hyper 10sc. It seemed so much faster in that. Maybe I'm just crazy but I could swear it just doesn't seem like the final drive to the wheels is the same. I ran a few laps today with intentions on racing in the 1/8 class tomarrow but it just doesn't seem to be very fast. Wish I had some 3s packs for it.

hmmm not to familiar with the vxl system. maybe try going up afew teeth. my 6.5 pulls hard on the straights and has plenty of bottom end

Don't have access to any more Mod 1 pinions before tomarrows race. Thats why I thaught if the spur on the 10sc was less teeth maybe I could just switch it over and get alittle more speed.

Same conclusion I came to as well. This is so wierd. It doesn't clear any of the doubles my Hyper 10sc did with the same motor/esc/batteries. Going down the straights its just flatout slow. Maybe there was something wrong with the pack.

i would try a different pack and see what it does. maybe the motor is starting to get weak or isnt enough for the tt or the esc is heating up and only giving you 50%.

I had the mini revo with the vxl and once it got to hot it would slow way down. If you can i would look into a different esc and motor setup for it

Tried different motor/esc/battery, another Vxl(3500Kv) and its still slow as hell on the top end. Its about perfect for my 1/16 track but for the 1/8 track it just isn't happening. I guess a 550 4.5T and some mid teen pinions are going on the to buy list because this thing is way slow right now. Its just wierd because the 10sc was faster with this same gear.

you have to gear it up your final drive is different now because the diameter of your tire is smaller than the 10sc. Try gearing it up 2 teeth from what you gear your 10sc.

Shoot, with my Hyper Mini STe I was running the VXL on 2S and to be able to clear the double/double and triple at my local track I installed a 23T pinion from R/C Monster.....it gave me the speed and punch I needed. The temps after 15min are motor 95-100 degrees F and with out the fan the ESC is 175 degrees and with the fan it is 150-160 degrees.

The VXL is a good basher not racer. If you are doing a spec class with just VXL's then it would be fine.

Dont get me wrong the VXL is a good system and I still have it in my Hyper Mini STe, but for my Hyper TT I will be running a Tekin RS and a 6.5 motor...not sure on brand yet.

Oh, here are some pics of my Hyper Mini.

Well I just sold off the Vxl setup. I need a replacement and would like it to be 550. May as well be a combo. Who has recommendations?

If you are set on a 550....then probably the Novak 4.5 with a Havoc Pro esc....or something along those lines. I think anything else would have to be geared fairly high to get the speed you want....also, I was told that these little truggies with that much torque are a hand full. Like stated somewhere in this thread the 550 will have the torque and run cooler due to the larger size, but it will not have the power of a 540...that is what swayed me to go with a 6.5 540....I will probably end up with a ballistic and you can always change the stator if it is not fast enough or vise versa.

Ya, the pushing factor for the 550 is less heat. All of 540s seem to build alot of heat from pretty early in a run and I don't even run 3s.
