Won the B in some of the closest Mini racing I've ever experienced. Steve Key, Mike Adelman, Jay Helson and I were all in the hunt, went down to the third Main.

Setup was completely different than anything I've run before: M Grips with a foam insert in the back and a double stuffer S Grip in front. White springs in back and blues in front, same oil and pistons as we ran at the Nats. Rear sway bar. Also saw people running Type A slicks but I think they were a little more prone to tippage.

Rules were basically the same as TCS except for the blind draw motors each round, which worked out really well. As the weekend wore on, some got a little faster and others a little slower but they were all in the hunt. Good driving really made the difference: I gave my backup car to Marty Hageman and he finished fifth overall.

A little help for an absent minded Mini'er.

I have a slight problem. I was taking my shocks apart (I have not done this for quite some time) and everything dropped on the floor. I had all of the inner spacers off of the pistons and now I can't remember what I had for the front and rear. What do I need for travel in the front and rear for carpet racing? I think I had inner spacers at 6mm in front and 4mm in the rear. Also, what is your ride height and how much droop should I have? (just in case I put things together backwards). Thanks.

I will be writing everything down from now on.

What tyres do the M chassis kits come with? In particular the RWD kits as they come with different rear tyres? Are they M grip radials or Super grip radials or is it dependant on the kit?

They come (at least the ones I've got) with M-Grip for the front and S-Grip for the rear.

How does the handling compare to the FWD M03 cars (Mini's and Swift) on the standard kit tyres? On tarmac this is.

Carl-
6 in the front, 4 in the back. Single 2mm preload spacer on the front, & a 2mm+1mm spacers on the back should get you right with short sedan springs.

Default My Real mini on an RC car track

I was at Sun Valley Speedway (KZ Speedway) on Sunday 10/7/07 to practice with my RC Motorcycles. The guy that runs the track loved my Mini Cooper so much that he told me to run it on the track... I wasn't sure it would fit, but he kept telling me to do it so I did... Here's the video (an RC Car Action Editor was my co-pilot)

Google video reduced the quality of the video to crap... but you get the idea

Tony - Thanks for the information on the batteries. I have used the IB cells and and I have been very satisfied. I have heard different opinions on IB cells and EP. Max Amps has gone to EP cells instead of IB.

EP cells are fine in most other classes, especially mod.
But in a restricted motor class (Silver Can and/or Sport-tuned) you need the extra punch, and the EP's just dont have it.

Tony- Thanks for the information. I found that the IB cells I have been running seem to have very good staying power throughout a race. I have found that I have been able to narrow the gap between myself and some of my opponnets cars in my local GT3 class. If I would quit making driver errors I might beat them.

What is the part number for those new colored Mini rims from Tamiya

One of the drivers at the Mini Mayhem had an orange set of those on his Mini. He added orange to the colors he painted his Mini body and it really looked sweet.

I got to get me a set of those.
