Another option is to mount the fan on edge blowing towards the ESC. That should get enough airflow to cool it down as well. I like using the black fan for this purpose though.

No they don't. Loosen the 3 screws, and use a flat bladed driver to push the timing ring marker to the edge of the C solder post on the motor. That will give you more timing.
