Default Futaba 3GR steering trim changes when adjusting dual rate

I bought a used 3GR to see if I like using sticks again after using a wheel for the last 30 years and am happy enough with it but there seems to be a problem in that when the steering rate is increased the centering trim changes also.
Has anyone else seen this problem, I have seen some radios have an electronic calibration to compensate for wear in the pots.

I also have a 3GR transmitter, but have not experienced what you describe. Are your steering endpoints the same or close for left & right? If there is a drastic difference between the two, if you change the dual rates the 'center' of the servo travel will indeed move.

Hope this helps,

Mark

I had the same isue with the FF3, it has to do that the trim and subtrim is far from zero.

Thanks for the replies, will test with everything centered and see what happens.

Old thread but wondering if anyone still reading it. I had exactly the same issues which dogged my driving whenever I used this radio, because I never noticed. I got mine in 2006 or 7, and gave up racing because my car would always wander....I found the actual issue this year after converting to steerwheel, and using the same reciever with both radios. In short, the potentiometer is glued in the wrong place in the transmitter. Open it up, carefully, cut away the glue that hold the pot in place, then you can centre by raising and lowering dual rate until it doesn't move. Then replace glue! I used shoe goo, seems great. Something Futaba should have done properly while manufacturing the unit. It did make me walk from RC for several years and was a headache from day 1 with the radio. If I changed dual rate, my car wouldn't centre, I was chasing servo, reciever, chassis tweak, and it defeated me!! Chased futaba and they have ignored my emails. Love futaba stuff but this will probably make me look elsewhere.

The newer radios (T4GRS) allow a calibration of the stick-which if you zero all the trims and carry out-works great. I did the same with my FF3, took the case off and centred the pot at zero. It was on a pinch clamp though, si didn't have to glue it at all.
