With the latest-and-greatest Sanwa M17 scheduled to go wide distribution in (about) 6 weeks, you may want to consider holding off a bit and looking for an excellent condition used Sanwa M12S. There are sure to be many available and, if speed is what you want, the M12S is lower latency than any other offering on the market at the moment (internet, correct me if this is not accurate!).

As for 'noticeable difference' if you can notice and desire a few ms faster receiver latency, then your absolute first purchase should be the fastest servo available. A servo 60' transit time of .08s vs. .09s is a 2x order of magnitude greater latency hit than (say) an M12S and the other systems you referenced. Heaven-to-Betsie if you're using a .10 or below servo!!! 8)

I can't see any info on the Spektrum site re: speeds of the various receivers. It just gives the protocols supported by each model & frame rate didn't appear to be given for the protocols either. Any way to look up what max frame rate is supported by each receiver model?

Typically, what I've seen is that if it's a 5.5ms receiver, it will be listed on the specs. If it's not on the specs, then will be the base of the supported protocols (11, 16, 22)..

EDIT: It seems like the only ones that appear to support 5.5mx are labeled "Race Rx".

I believe all of the 4 digit number receivers currently sold (i.e. SRS6000, SR2100) support 5.5ms, and the 3 digit DSMR receivers are 11.1.

I was in the same boat sil about 10 spektrum recievers I went a head and got a M12s-rs anyway and at first didn’t notice much difference till I had to make mid-air adjustment! Jumps I couldn’t whip around before are a lot easier

Questions?? Spektrum DX5C Reset & Setup ??'s

So I'm switching everything on my Losi 22 4.0 from Stock to Mod (new esc, motor, slipper, etc) and I thought I'd build a new model profile on my Spektrum DX5C and save my stock setup in case I might need it later.

I created a 'blank' factory model #2 and immediately noticed that the Brake Trim indicator is at 100%. The steering and throttle bar graphs are at 0. On my old "Stock setting #1", its as low as it can go - 1%. On the cover of the manual, the bar graph is also at 100%.

a) which one is correct?
b) why have I been driving all this time with it only at 1%?

Any additional comments or advice would be helpful.

Not sure if I really know what you mean. You have to touch the display to be able to see it? That is definitely not right. I may be inside right now, but here is how my 5C looks. It does not have a backlight built in to the LCD. Try going into Settings, Display, and change the contrast. In the photo, mine is at 30. If you are outside, you may need to adjust it to see better with the light glare.

I've been using this radio for club racing for almost a year now. With my son and I racing three cars a piece, I had to put my money on the more important things. Tires.
I am running Duracell nimh Batts, I added a charge plug to the inside tray. They don't last nearly as long as lithium cells, But it saves me a little money.
Has anyone tried putting in a 6v Bec with a 3s lipo?

Not me, but I've modified other radios to use a 2S LiFe battery. These put out between 6.2-6.7V and are usually within the voltage specification. I looked for info on the DX5C input voltage range and unfortunately couldn't find anything, so not sure if it would work.

The software in the radio was not really designed to work with a lipo/life to help keep the unit cost in a specific range. We use the 5C quite a bit for video shoots and testing and regular AA's (popular brand batteries). Have a good run time. Only time I ever had an issue was when I got $1 store batteries.

Evening club races once a week have me charging the same set of NiMh AAs once a month, and that's more as a precaution. I never see the low voltage alarm.

BTW, the new Spektrum SR215 receivers looks pretty awesome. Small, 5.5ms frame rate, no bind plug (yes!) and pretty cheap ($30). I don't have one to test, but I like what I'm seeing so far.

Is there a drop down wheel adapter available?
Thanks!
