Default Spektrum DX5C

I didn't see another thread about this brand new radio from Spektrum, so I figured I'd start one. I picked one up from my local hobby store yesterday, and as far as I know it just got released a day or two ago. This is the replacement for the DX4C.

Did a little unboxing video if you guys are interested in seeing what's inside:

Holy ****. Make sure you disconnect the motor sensor wire when binding this beast, it has a habit of trying to blast your throttle at 100% while it's syncing. Don't just disconnect motor wires, that smoked my cheapo Hobbyking X-car ESC.

I'm a little surprised there has been zero activity on this radio thread, this is my first Spektrum and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice of a radio it is for this price point. I'll be doing a review video sometime in the next few days.

I don't see how the number of channels has to do with racing. Every "race-level" radio does at least 4 channels.

Razor, glad to hear you like the radio!!

faqcya - racers will typically not use more than throttle and steering, although some larger vehicles can use a third channel for a mechanical brake if they want. Typically will see more channels used in crawling type stuff or a lot of different reasons.

Was actually pretty surprised with this radio, not really what I was expecting to be honest! I know it seems like I'm promoting this radio, but I paid for it myself at full MAP at my LHS. Just giving credit where credit is due.

Compatible with DSMR and DSM2* receivers (DSM2 only operates on 16.5ms frame rate)
Yep.

I also just got this radio because all of the Futaba radios are on back order with no end in sight. So far the only thing I wish it had is a throttle tension adjustment. Great radio for the price.

No worries, I appreciate people being honest. I do think my Futaba 3PV review sucks, but it was like the second time I ever recorded anything.

Not to threadjack, but what do you think I should do that I'm not, and what do you think I shouldn't be doing that I am? PM separately if you like.
