I run an Alpha S852. It already has more power than I can use effectively at my level of skill, so why would I want a modded one?

A bit of simple question with to less possible answers. For instance I am missing the option of a "cheaper low powered engine modified"

modded all the way........ !

personally I think you would have to drive the modified version of the engine back to back with the stocker to make any such decision.... any other way is just pure speculation......many of my mod engines are smoother then stock, rev higher and get better mileage....Most customers tell me my mod engines are easier to drive on the track then the stock counterpart.......as well add in the hand fitted piston I have, that greatly reduces breakin time

+5 For the modded but I agree with Roelof. I will buy a cheap $100 to $150 dollar engine and pay Adam $85 to make it race worthy. I have not been disappointed. Engine runs great, easy to tune, idles very well, and great on fuel consumption.

My opinion is greatly influenced by who my modded engines come from. I know most of you have heard over and over again about how well Clockwork takes care of their customers, but to confirm how true that is; if I had to choose between stock or modded by anyone other than Clockwork I would choose stock. My modified engines come with so much more than what's been done to the engine itself. Buying an engine from anyone or anywhere who will tell me to piss off if I have any problems makes this an easy choice for me. For the extra $50-$100 for a clockwork engine that comes with unlimited customer service and tech support is the only way to buy an engine. I've heard good things about some of the other engine Mod guys but never dealt with any of them, nor feel the need to ever have to. Those of you who know what I am talking about understand fully. Rock on Clock!!

I have run stock and modded. All 3 modders i've used gave me a better engine. Broader power band, more overall useable power and better mileage. But it's all personal preference.

I ve run both stock and modded. Modded motors didn't lower lap times so i just run stock. I can get more gallons on a stock motor than a modded motor by far. To many hassles with the modded motors like, re-pinching, narrow tuning windows, glow plug life...meh!!...stock is better for me.
