Hey Everyone,

So, I've been thinking of getting back into the hobby but haven't driven a car in about 5 years I'm hoping to visit Hangar 30 for the last couple of races. It would be great to hear how everyone's been doing and how the sport has changed since 2005! Haha! Anyway, at the moment I definitely can't afford to race, but if that changes, I'm thinking of getting an Xray T3. Anyone running one at the track?

Thanks!

Lesson learned; reading rc tech while driving may make you miss things. Lol

@Sam ... XRAY T3 is good.

Hey Sam,

You can't really go wrong with any of the current cars out there right now. The Xray is a solid car though, and knowing you.... you'd dig it . There are a few people running them that you can grab a setup from. The Tamiya 416X is also one that is becoming more popular I think as well.

Thanks for the info. What speed controls/motors are good these days? I'm sure there must be differing opinions, but I was looking at the LRP. Please excuse my ignorance, but are you guys running brushless/LiPo now? The last time I raced, we were still using 19T brushed motors and 6 cell packs.

Thanks again!

Default need some help for my film project

Hey guys, I am making a short film for a school project. I need a little help on the upcoming race.

I will be staging an "illegal underground rc car race".

I will set up and do it during practice. All I need is a few cars to do some drag race action and that's pretty much it.

Let me know if your interested, thanks and see everyone on Wednesday

Jeff

Hey Sam! Would be great to see you at the track again.

LRP is a decent speed control. Current speed controls to consider are Tekin RS, LRP SXX Stock Spec and blackdiamond. Best bang for your buck are the tekin RS ESCs. Tekin are continuously updating their speed controls so it won't be obsolete anytime soon. There are speed controls that are just as good but are going to $50 - $200 more.

Regarding batteries .... LIPO are the batteries we use now. You will only need 1 maybe two, depends on how much practice you want to do. Look for 4900+ mah and 30C+ rating. Thunder power is a good battery to invest in.

Todays stock motors (17.5) ,with the current speed control software, are as fast as 10 turn mod motors. Things have gotten much faster. There are only .2 - .5 that sperate 17.5 times and mod times on a track the size of hangar 30. I doubt you will see a major difference in times until you hit a track over 150 feet long.

Send me a PM if you need more specific questions answered.

I would look into the Speedpassion GT2.0 or (2.1 if your going to run only stock) They also have software updates and we are right up there with Tekin as far as speeds go. Just want to throw that out to you as well.

That sounds cool. I would suggest trying to get some of the Trans-Am guys because they just look cooler and are more like real cars.
