Default screw threadlocked to chassis

well I went to clean up my NMT (yes I know its a "off road") but the topic will fit here and I will probably get more responses faster)

i got 3 of the 4 motor screws out but the 4th wond budge. the little bit that I can turn/twist the engine with that screw in shows that the screw isn't moving as the motor moved. so I guess it would be thread locked to the chassis. how do I get that off.

Take a dremel of some sort and make a slit big enough for a flathead or a philips.

if 3 of the 4 come of, take the whole car apart leaving only the chassis and engine mounts and grab the engine mount that has the screw in it, nowturn it anti clockwise. it should loosen the screw....hopefuly.

always use allen head screws (hex) and replace when they show play.

nitronut solution is easier
basically just turn the motor screw into a flat head screw head
with a dremmel cutting wheel (you have a dremmel right, they should come w/ car kits along with that throttle return spring i mentioned)anyway by turning the screw into a flat head
you can use a large screw driver (more power)to free the screw, yes it will
ruin the screw but it is easiest
good luck and try not to dremmel any of your chassis inthe
process

the above + use of heat to melt the thread lock !!!

yeah I read heat it with a soldering iron...the only thing I got out of that was a burned finger!!!! i would rather take everything off the rear of the car than burn my finger again.

Default screw threadlocked to chassis

corvettecrazy;

Sounds like you used WAY too much Threadlock. A tiny drop on the screw threads is all you need.

If your Chassis is NOT countersunk, you can grab the Head of the Screw with the Jaws of some Side Cutters (wirecutters) and turn it out this way.

A Quality #2 Phillips Driver goes a long way here.

good luck,

nail polish remover(esther) is the solvent for CA and threadlock(and many other stuff too).
try a few drops in and around the screw hole.
remember,it will melt plastic and anodizing too.
