I've run the RB and I now run the Orion.

The RB I found to be more sensitive to tune, but the Orion is a set and forget kind of thing. I am very pleased with the Orion overall and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

Where'd you get that info? Reason I asked is that there's a flaw in it. Your info states that his fuel was Cosmo 30%. In a LiveRC.com interview after the Worlds Hara stated several times that he was running 25%, not 30% (his words). Not trying to nitpick, but...

a speed is still a vspec, its a tuned version of the vzb vspec, not totally different just a better version, there would be no reason for him to run a speed head on a stock vspec, they could have just as easily drilled out the blue head for the weight savings

Does it really make a difference which engine he runs ? All three engines Megacrash listed are great engines and will like either one .

on the hara engine debate, i would think that he used a std V-Spec based on this pic..

unless he decided to use a speed with a 21J carb??
don't think so..

anyway i've always felt tt a std V-Spec is good enough to hang out with the rest of them.
(off-road ie. on-road is another story altogether..)
OS has come a long way in making reliable engines.
2 world titles in 06' and 08' says it all..

Megacrash,
another engine you could consider would be the new Ninja JX.
wait for the newer version that's coming out anytime soon now..

if your not going to be any help don't post... the reason i said this is because a Speed has a weighted crank to make it smooth for low traction situations,
The slug weights added to the crank of a Speed have little or nothing to do with its low end performance, however, they have all to do with it being one of the smoothest running (NO VIBRATION) motors on the market. On the breakin bench nothing moves on the table. Simply amazing. Even a coffee cup has very minor ripples in the liquid.
