I finally got to run the new 12mm 1/10th scale shocks this weekend. As expected, the vehicles land even more like a wet rag than they did before on the V2 shocks.

Quick and dirty setup suggestions for the shocks:

Buggy:

Front: 30wt/1.6 pistons/3 internal limiter spacers/Inside on tower/Outside on arm
Rear: 25wt/1.6 pistons/2 internal limiter spacers/Inside on tower/Inside on arm

Truck:

Front: 30wt/1.6 pistons/3 internal limiter spacers/Inside on tower/Outside on arm
Rear: 25wt/1.7 pistons/2 internal limiter spacers/Inside on tower/Inside on arm

I didn't get to run AE springs yet, but I'm told that black front/white rear works well on the buggy, and greens front and rear work well on the truck.

One thing that pleased me is that AE's spring rates are now completely linear from color to color. Each step up in front springs is always 0.15 lb/in. Each step up on the rear springs is always 0.1 lb/in.

There's going to be a lot of discussion and testing of these shocks and springs in the next few months as we get to grips with them. I expect a lot of specialization in setups will start to take shape between MMR and 510 Raceway as well. I'll share what I discover as time goes on. If you have questions or discover things in your own testing, post em up!

There is a big bore thread out there now too. Unfortunately you have to sift your way through a lot of bickering to find any useful nuggets of info.

I am still getting a feel for the big bores but I think I just want a hair harder front spring. Asc black just a touch soft, going to try losi orange this week and hopefully the next couple weeks the other Asc springs will start showing up.

Big bores deffinatly absorb the big hits.

My guess is one of the three highest front spring rates will be what works best on the multi-surface track. We generate so much grip that standard springs are probably not up to the task of controlling the chassis.

D'ya think that there's gonna be a T4.2 truck update coming or not. Thinking about getting back into the offroad realm again and picking up a truck. Hoping that since these Big Bore shocks have just been released that they'll update the kit with these springs.
I KNOW YOU KNOW, CUZ YOU'RE IN KNOW.

yeah, if a guy wanted to get some new associated offroad vehicles, when would they be available with big bore shocks?

I doubt we will see a current kit with the BB shocks. I could see the BB shocks being an upgrade to the current kits until something new comes out. We will see an upgraded buggy before anything, but I would bet that is well over a year out?

Agreed, no real need to hurry for new kits for either the B4 or T4, and I'm sure things have been tested, but they probably cannot exceed the benchmark set by the current equipment. They have the best selling, best handling, easiest to drive, and most flexible platform in the market right now, if they came along with something new that fell short of that, they would hurt a really good thing.

IMO - no need to focus on the V2 shocks as a "bad" in any way, the stock cars are still the best you can get now, regardless of how big the shocks are on the other cars. The Big Bores obviously are going to jump and land better, but will take some getting used to and tweaking to get the feel back that everyone is used to with the V2s

I wish I was in the know.

I could see it going either way. AE just announced the B44.2 that has big bores, so it's not a stretch to think they're going to announce a B4.2 and T4.2. I haven't seen anything official though.

My son just ponyed up and bought a set of big bores for his SC10. Anyone have an SC10 big bore setup? Would Marshall's truck setup above work?

The shock kits should come with a recommended starting setup for the shocks. I built my shocks for my B4 and T4 with the recommended settings and was very happy with them.
