Hara might have won the US Nats because he is Hara. Besides, his car was not the plain jane R40. It had all the lightened option and I believe a chassis that is not even out yet.

In KL/PJ, the R40 was hot when it came out but only very few bought it. Now I don't think anyone drives one. I know that it is a very heavy car. Very nice build but the plastics is not the best around.

Have you seen the R40 in action? How the handling, stability, parts strength etc? I only saw it at a LHS fully built. The setup is pretty impressive with the laydown servos and also it is easier to access to the diffs.

I've seen it perform. It handles very good and stable on high speed tracks.

I guess the reason why it's not popular is because of the parts support.

I thought HPC is carrying all the parts... They even still keeping stock for SS type.... I can alway get it from them. May be R40 is still new and ppl want to see it perform during race first before getting it. Who knows.

The car was driven by one of the top drivers and qualified in the A main in the last Seremban 2 race. What more do people want?

However, mid way through the race, something happened to the car. I heard conflicting reports. Some say the rear belt putus. Some say that the one way bearing at the 2 speed got toasted and 2nd gear did not engage. To me, the car sounded like it didn't have 2nd speed anymore and seeing that Seremban 2 is a huge track, you cannot survive 45 minutes of being in 1st speed only.

Guys. I have heard rumours that a new serpent is going to be launch soon. It will be called Serpent 710. As some of your guys know, in 1/8, the 910 will be taken over by a 910R.
As for the 1/10 class, a whole new car will be built and will be named as a 710. Any news or updateds or confirmation on this???

Ummm, 910? 950 lah...

The 950 underwent a small upgrade to 950R (Refinement, not ruD ) just before the 1/8th scale WC in Ohio. Unfortunately, the team did not have enough time to prepare and use the new 950R car because the timing was not correct and they did not have enough spares.

Yes, that is correct. When? Don't know. Distributors in Asia says it's end of December this year. That was what happened to the 705 which came out late last year but it only arrived on Malaysian shores 2 or 3 months later.

Apparently it's goind to be of completely new design. Features such as found on the 950R with adjustable wheelbase, adjustable front roll center, lay down servo for steering as well as throttle (something like the G4) and the works...

Well the tank info may be correct. Perhaps it's also a figure of speech as the guy heard it from a team serpent driver.

In any case, my guess is that the Centax II and the LC 2 speed gearbox will be retained. If they changed it, they'll probably put optional 0.8 module pinions and spurs for better efficiency.

Like yourself and many others, I am waiting impatiently too.
