I am well aware of the part and the mod. Why it wasn't designed to accommodate larger pinions and lower FDR's to begin with is what I am questioning. Then again Tamiya does some odd things from time to time. Like the TA06 and the servo and ESC not being switched around and not needing to run long wires across the belt area. They changed this in the MS, but looks like it's the back to the stock way in the new TA06 coming out...

Anyways, as a former owner of 2 EVO 5 MS cars with the Exotek lipo conversions, I was really looking forward to the 6 release. The horizontal motor mount is just not what I was wanting to see in it.

Believe so (unconfirmed though).

Here it is, the new EVO 6, what a Beauty

I think the new one is not very different from Simmi`s Racing Factory EVO Exotek 418

I Think new Bulks and Chassis, Topdeck, (Arms, Axles, Stabi all 418). Haha, my is the Future, I like

But one NEW is mine!!!!!

The Exotek TB Evo 5 is still extremely competitive in 17.5 class racing. Was hoping for something similar with the Evo 6, but if Tamiya is saying its horizontal, then it makes it a less attractive offering. At least for me it does...

Yep that is what I was saying. Why not keep all that weight towards the center of the car. That is another advantage for a shaft drive keeping that weight in the middle. Who knows, maybe they will have a way to mount shorty packs horizontal as well...

It's interesting to me that this TB04 has more steering than any car I've ever driven. And I've driven a lot. The car is heavy. The drive train is as free as any shaft drive car. That took some serious shimming. Tamiya might be onto something.

My EVO5 MS was great but felt outdated. My thoughts of the TB04 is that I believe it was intended to run Mabuchi motors. Thats why the gearing is the way it is. Hopefully the EVO6 will give what racers are looking for.
