Just starting to get to grips with the pivot blocks and what they do. I run stock and I’ve always had a 3 block in the back. Are you suggesting that I would be better off going lower than this? What effect would this have on the car?

Cheers

Less rear toe in will give you more on-power steering, plus more straightaway speed which you want badly with stock motors.

I have them. They're nice although I have snapped one of the axles after a hard hit.
Another CVD question: do you guys use upgraded CVDs on both the front and rear, or is it only needed up front? This is for stock and 19T carpet.

I've always run a one-way on carpet and rubbers with the Cyclone on a tight and technical track, it's very good. A team driver came to my club last meeting and struggled badly with a spool up front and unfortunately he didn't bring his one-way.

As for CVD's I don't think there is much need for upgraded ones on the rear, for me it's just the front ones which seem to bend and then eventually shear off if they are bad enough

You only need upgraded cvd in the front as this is where the impact comes. I have yet to damage my rear cvd's.

you can also replace the stock aluminum front bones to the new steel ones.
the Tamiya Tb-02 42mm steel bones will fit as well and cheaper too.

what class? if its not mod you can probably run 2.5 rear toe block.

Also given the spacing under the pivot blocks, you may be able to run more shims under your camber links. I am guessing that Hara ran very low spacing because of the massive traction at IIC. So you probably can run more spacers to increase cornering.

But yes one-way is recommended for rubber tires (asphalt and carpet). You should only need diff on carpet with foams.
ohh the pistons i ran the stock ones that came with the kit and i ran 19T ,this was a starter set up for me i have to start some place but i will try more shims under the block and the camber links .one thing the stock pistons are 1.1?

What gearing are you guys using for a tight onroad track in stock racing? Spur? Pinion?

stock cyclone pistons are 3x1.1
stock hara pistons are 2x1.2

yes 3 deg block is usually used in mod. you can usually run less if you arent running mod. more rear toe basically is more rear stability and more drag on straightaways.

oneway is even more important on smaller tracks over spool. spool can compete with oneway on larger tracks because you have more momentum to use to overcome the inherent understeer in the first half of the corner. the tricky part is that oneway's are hard to use for small tracks because there is a lost of accel/decel.

also you have to remember that spools only came out with the banning of one-ways at major races. if you really want to use a spool put it in the back !!!!

basically rubber = oneway unless oneways are banned, then use spool.
foams on carpet = diff.
for time attack.

my kit came with 2 holes pistons allround, not sure if its 1.1 or 1.2 mm.

Whats the main difference in cornering with running a front diff with a center oneway?

Has anyone notice hara set up sheets only showing 4 holes for the rear shock towers but the kit actually comes with 5?

Can someone also clarify the following:

Raising the lower pivot blocks = less roll
Raising the camber link = more roll

This is what came up for me: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFSB6&P=7
But that wouldn't fit the axle.
