I would disagree with the Serpent shocks, but the other two seem right on. Might consider the foam shock tower if you're running carpet.

You can also find the XRAY optional parts recommendations in the XRAY forum Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section.

There aren't to many fragile parts on the car. Usual suspects for breaking are the caster/steering blocks. Personally, I avoid the aluminum parts because they are heavier and stiffer, which can take away steering. Also, instead of breaking parts, you start bending them and will add stress to other parts of the car, like the arms. Usually when the caster blocks break they just crack and your able to finish the run anyways. Shock ends and a must have in the box too, especially if your racing carpet because I guarantee you grind through the fronts at some point.

As for hop-ups, there are a lot of hop-ups that really help, but I think you notice the biggest gain when you run the entire package. Heres what I run on my car.

3.0mm chassis
Carpet top deck
Carpet front tower
Hard arms F/R
2 degree rear hubs
4.5 caster blocks (Hard)
.75 eccentrics

I believe thats it... either way that will get you real close. If you have any other questions, let me know.

Just got back from my lhs and saw the new xray 05 boxes. The sticker on the front said that the new kit had both a 2.5 mm and 3.0 mm chassis.

I am a rookie and I chunked plenty of jacos, and never a trc. I also like the trc wheel better. Aesthetics counts for something.
