your arguement is legit...but you need to bring it to HPI so they can see this....it may help, but it cant hurt....none of the old guard from HPI is on here anymore that Im aware of....so no one sees the complaints except "us"....and potential new racers...yep they read this and get real uneasy about getting into the class...hummm...

so like i said, the USVTA is aware of all situations and plan B, C, and D are in the works Im sure...but in the mean time....contact HPI, or your favorite supplier, or local hobbyshop, or a buddy on line....tires are out there....you just have to do a little looking

Default 240z was in Trans Am racing......

That would make me want to get into VTA. Love the idea, just hate the bodies.
I think it would be pretty cool to see a 240z in USVTA or the 510. I'm a huge Datsun/ Nissan fan and would push a 240z in USVTA hard core. Hey Rob would you consider that body in USVTA since it was in Trans Am racing? The Tamiya part number 51407???

[email protected] is how to contact them about supply issues with tires, bodies, etc. Drop them a line. I just did.

Did you get an answer? With the sale of the company who knows what condition they're in.

Would the Lords of USVTA (all hail) consider a different premounted spec tire?

I will say, since changing to the new black carpet I've been going through tires faster. Just glued 2 sets up as a matter of fact, but I buy before need is forcing me to sit out.
This being said, I'm a big fan of Paul. Has anyone approached him and seen if he could source an alternative? And since I asked it here and don't expect others to do my leg work, I'll send him an email right now

On a side note, I run a 4 tracks that don't require a drivers figure, but Myron's race in april has me intrigued. Most of the pics I've found show mounting on TC4 battery straps. Any tips on a modern chassis and which figure to use?

On the tire issue...
We have been aware of HPI's financial position for quite some time, and we have a plan in place. I hope we will be able to announce what will happen very soon, but until everything is 100% finalized, I can't really comment.

Please be aware that we see the exact same things you do, and we are trying to get something done about it.

At our track we allow Japanese cars from the same era (65-74) too. I race a Mazda Rx-3, also a Skyline Kenmeri. Lots o fun but track specific. Z's and Hakosuka too.

I use this same driver figure in my Xray T4. I drilled a hole behind the shoulder of the driver and using a short stand-off, I screw it to the middle hole of the top deck.

I did receive a response to the e-mail that I sent to the address in my previous post. Here it is:

Good Morning,

We have received a few emails regarding these tires this morning. You can find our response below:

I can tell you that the 4793 and 4797 are in stock here in the UK. I am unsure of why they’re not available in the USA. Have you tried contacting Hobbico at all? They are the distributors of HPI for the USA and will be able to tell you if and when they will be receiving delivery of these?

I would strongly recommend getting in touch with Hobbico to find out more information on these.

Kind Regards

Nice! Definitely more info than we had before.

However the Hobbico website just went down from people trying to horde VTA tires.
