It definitely takes some magic to get it right.

I practiced last night with some new VTA tires, the ones that come in the fancy bag that you can re-seal. To me, these seemed to be a slightly harder compound than any I had purchased before. They also had a different smell to them, which further leads me to believe something is different. I am not new to VTA, I have been racing it for around three years and I currently have 3 of my cars set-up for the class, so I have went through my fair share of tires. The new tires had my car sliding around so badly, that I decided not to race it and ran another class. I followed my usual VTA tire break-in procedure which usually has my tires working from the moment I first set it on the track.
Anybody else tried the newer tires and if so, what was your experience with them?

Slightly off topic....but, for all you Falcon fans, who will probably never see a Falcon body for VTA, here is something to put a smile on your face.....

Full tube frame chassis, built & prepared at the ROUSH NASCAR shops. I believe it's a full on NASCAR Winston Cup engine in it as well. Bad ass!

I tried a new set lately in the fancy new bag and they worked fine. I dunk them in a gallon of acetone for 15 minutes before mounting them. Removes any release compound. Then sauce with ProTek TrueGrip Maximum in a ziplock bag for 24 hours. Then another sauce of Maximum before hitting the track the first time.

Where is this list of cars?
Because if you go on the historic Trans am site and click on cars there are a lot of cars that raced not listed

And, I had a 1961 Ford Falcon once upon a time. So I'm partial to that car. When I bought it ($1,600) my Dad said, "Why would you buy that thing? It was a P.O.S. in 1961, and its still a P.O.S!"

(I drove it for a couple of years and sold it for $1,650. So there Dad!)

I say go for the 63 Ford Falcon if anyone is listening. The Falcon had a whole nuther look to it than the others at that time. All the rounded corners.
