I wish to get a Mckune chassis before I start building my fgx.... It's been over three years since I got the kit, and I must say the thick plastics did not encourage me to start the build...

Thanks GRem.

It may take a while but I hope I can show the same tenacity you have shown in bringing your car to it's end result. Which is incredible by the way!

It does look as though, like you, my car will need a new chassis plate and top deck.
Will probably mock one up in aluminium first before getting the final measurements for the final C/F version..
Any tips GRem that may help?

Regards

Need some help finding an exotek chassis for my fgx. Anyone out there got one?

I like the way my fgx handles on my local track when the ifs is installed but the top deck is just so brittle. How are people strengthening the top decks? I'm sure most are using epoxy but I can't seem to find any pictures.

When I had the old Front end it was brutal. I sho gooed the front under side where it breaks. there are some stiffeners that I just fill the voids with shogoo

On the ifs I have yet to break one with out glueing it and I have had some nasty hits

Just bought an FGX and before starting to upgrade it i got this mail from 3Racing:

Thank you very much for your reply and suggestions you provided to us. It helps us a lot to improve ourselves.

We are sorry for the discontinued parts and cars, but the FGX will have a new version and will be publish in 2016 - KIT-FGX2016.

Thank you for supporting us.

Best Regards,
Suki

I know I am late to the party. I have been piecing together an FGX from parts that I can find around. Trying to put three together for a race kit. Question I have is, what is the legality of DRS on RC F1. Seems to be a great concept to embrace. Especially when going for scale realism. Figure KERS is already in place with a good Lipo haha.

Also, when looking at 21.5T motors, whats the preference people seem to be running to. And the final question... how hard is it to find a hex that will allow these to run the F104 wheels? There seems to be far more support for the rubber on those rims.

Thanks, Woot Woot for a newbie

So, is the fgx with the ifs a worthy car? Currently on an exotek f1r2, with ifs, but lookong to upgrade as it just isnt the easiest to drive. I very heavily like the ifs design and layout on the fgx, as its the same as the indycars i normally work on for a living. However, how good are these cars, conpetatively? Are they now within the uf1 rules? What are needed upgrades?

Not sure if they are within the UF1 rules but they are allowed at my track. It does feel like cheating on a small track. I am easily 2 laps up on the rest of the field. it's easier to drive fast and creates A lot of traction.

The IFS is stronger front end too. I run the FGX IFS with the Exotech Upper adjustable A-arms

Anyone have one for sale? With exotek chassis and ifs? Possibly with belt drive?

Finally approaching the setup I have been building towards

The HPI FX-10 was what got me hooked. Especially running it on my short course 3800Kv. It was just a absolute monster. Going for an FGX-Exotek base for my setups now. I just love the scaleness of the four wheel independent suspension.

Keep an eye out, every now and then they go past. I used ebay and other sites to stockpile spare parts in order to build up a new chassis when I saw a pair of complete chassis for sale. Now approaching the four car spread that I am after and putting together a large spares collection. Sucks and its frustrating but worth the patience believe me.

I picked up an FGX recently and I'm having an issue where the ball in the Exotek top arms is very stiff and I cannot get it to be free. Does anyone have any suggestions on freeing this up as it looks to be creating some binding in the arm/steering.

I have warmed the arm and removed the ball and then made sure it was clean. I have even buffed the ball to be smoother but still no joy. When the arm is warmed it moves better but when cool it is stiff.

I believe the balls in it are the 3racing balls and I have not tried a Tamiya ball. Would this be the solution or is there something else?
