I tried a tp4200 40c (263g), and a tp5300 65c (309g) in my car , and the excess weight hurt my lap times bad. I also had less speed down the straight , as I could not carry any serious speed through the turns with the heavier packs. The lightest my 13.5 Fttc4 can be is 1420g with the tp3200 (208g) I have, and I can lose another 40grams by running a low profile servo and a tekin RS instead of a Gtb...
I run 6000 ReVtech packs (315ish). I currently use stainless steel screws and a full servo..... I could kill 25 or more grams right there, but no big deal. I was undergeared 2 teeth from what I run on my TC6, but the car carried good corner speed so I didn't get out-powered.

I need to change the rear diff - it slips unless it is really tight (plastic parts).

You must have a Fttc4 then with plastic everywhere. I have the IRS aluminum diffs in the rear of my car for six years now, and no maintenance needed yet ! If there is another racer that could lend you a light pack(under 220grams) for one run , I bet you could pickup more then .4 seconds a lap. My car was extremely unbalanced with my light pack and it ran better and faster unbalanced than balanced ... Not being overweight seems more important then balanced !

I disagree. If I picked up .4 a lap I'd be competing on the national level!

It's actually a TC3 chassis with numerous TC4 parts.

I'd rather a car be heavy and balanced. It may be a touch slower, but the car drives more consistent, which over 6 minutes more than makes up for any "hot laps" I might get with a lighter car.

It won't hurt to try once, and if it does not work you can always go back to your current setup... If we were racing together I would lend you one of my packs for a run or two just to discover how fast the car can get...you never know, it might be faster than a T3 2012... lol...

If I had lighter electronics I'd definitely be running a smaller pack. It balances really well with what I have now. I do have a CF shaft, but I made an upper deck of sorts with some CF rod and odd other pieces to remove flex, so weight-wise they cancel each other out. I'm also not sure how much the LTCR weighs...... It is a light-weight practice body, but has a lot of tape and some glue holding it in one piece! I'm sure a dedicated race body would help considerably.

I also have my tc4's running other manufacturer's parts: losi lcd's , yokomo shock bladder, tamiya shocks(in mod), diggity design tc5 battery brace fttc4's , hirosaka gears(not in stock), parma bumper, acer bearings (mod), etc...They do slightly improve the car, but weight loss seems to make the most difference...

What changes did they make from the Team Associated TC3 to the TC4?

Looking for a mint TC4 tub chassis with some nice clean tastefull upgrades on it.

Basicly all the parts got changed in some way, but the suspension geometry and the layout is the same.

ebay is your best bet.

The TC4 has bellcrank steering and the TC3 has a sliding rack which is prone to jamming when it gets dirty.

I'm looking into purchasing a TC3 or TC4(something cheap) but can't decide.
There are a few TC3 which have a few hop-ups but i can also find cheap TC4's stock with the same$$$.

WHich should i go for?
TC3 is discontinued although i see that parts are still available.

TC4 would be a better choice but can't make up my mind?

Will i need to change the stock ESC and motor on TC4?
Weight wise compared to the competition(HPI flux, team academy, corally,...)??

Hi all:

I know somewhere buried in the hundreds of pages of this thread there was a chart posted (I think it was an Excel file) that showed all of the combination of arm mounts and toe values.

But I can't find it.

On my TC4, in the rear I've got a square forward arm mount and a X-2.5 rear arm mount.

What toe-in does that give ?

I'm setting it up for a Vintage oval class that our track runs -- if I wanted zero degree rear toe, then what combination of arm mounts do I need to use ??

Thanks

Those bloody little stones getting stuck in there !! my solution was to fill up the hollow chassis parts under the rack with epoxy, less trouble, less stones stucked.

So is this platform still competitive. Factory or Team better. Looking to club race until spring offroad starts again and want to do it on the cheap. Lol
