We don't see much 17.5 boosted in TC, but we do see 13.5 boosted in Europe and the Far East, I will try and get some of those set up for you, we can adjust the RPM levels accordingly.

I've got a 13.5 boosted carpet setup that should give you a good and safe starting point. We've been running that class as our premier TC class in Western Canada for the past 4 years until we switched it to full out Mod this fall.

Motors: LRP x12 13.5 (4-dot timing insert) and Reedy Sonic 13.5 (25-30 deg static timing)
Gearing: 7.42 FDR
Brake: 85%, pwm freq 3200Hz, linear
Throttle: pwm freq 2500Hz, 100% punch, linear, narrow dead band
Drag brake: 0%
Dynamic brake: disabled
Acceleration boost: start 1500, finish 10500, timing 35
Top speed timing: slew rate 10, .2 delay, timing 30
Options: sbec 6.0V, run mode Open, firmware A30
Temp: 160 with fan on the Reedy motor, 180 with the LRP

I worked on this setup for quite a while. It has good infield punch, a flatter mid-range for better control around medium speed with lots of top end. Initially, I had a hard time trying to control the boost coming on too strong when rolling onto throttle around medium sweeping corners... the reason for the flatter mid range setup.

With a 17.5, I'd recommend to gear up to somewhere between 6.2 - 6.6 to start and see how it feels.
After that, check your temp to see if you have room for more boost sooner in the RPM range, or more static timing on the motor.

I was looking on the Viper site for some esc setups for 17.5 blinky and couldn't find any. I'm running the VTX10 with a Reedy Sonic and the track is 70x45. If anyone has any setups to share I'd greatly appreciate it.

Throttle Freq - between 4k and 8k
Punch - 100
Curve - Linear, is what most run in off-road. I hear some TC guys like to run EXP+2
Brake - adjust to your liking and needs for track.

Everyone has a little different "feel" for what they like, but this is good ballpark.

Default Question

When updating my settings on my VTX what is the difference between "load" and "save" on my ProGauge?

Ive just been doing both loading and saving and everything is working fine.
I just don't know what is doing what.

Load is changing profiles.

Load is telling the esc to run the profile you selected. Typically you would choose Load if you wanted to switch = say from Profile 1 to Profile 3 - you would Load Profile 3.

Save is when you have gone into the programming and made changes to your set up, when you choose to Save it, you will be asked to verify what Profile you are saving (consider it a fail safe to make sure you are doing the right thing. Then you choose to Save the changes on the Profile.
