Default BMI Racing "Copperhead 12" discussion and support

Hey Guys,

I want to start a new thread specific to our new "Copperhead 12" Competition 1/12th race car. I wanted to make it a little easier to follow the new car so any questions or thoughts can be posted here. Here are a couple pics for you guys. Thanks for looking.

Very awesome! Looks like it is much easier to get the battery in and out of the car now. Is that the BSR rims and tires?

Those are BSR tires. They are temperarily using CRC wheels until they get there mold modified. I dont know how long until it will be done though.

Thanks for the compliments buddy. The battery loading is much easier as is assembly. Upkeep is a snap also as everything is very accessable and makes for very quick, easy setup changes.

are the plastic ballcups on the flexplate and the center pivot the same as the db12RR ones?

No, the link balls are a new single piece design (a nice upgrade for RR cars). The centre ball has different hole spacing to the RR

Cool...so are you officially going to be carrying the BSRs then? Will you be having machined spacers for the BSR offset in the rear like the 3mm ones for the Jaco?

I want to wait to see what the offset is on johns wheels after he mods them. I dont know what mods he is making. I am carrying the BSR tire line.

Good...I hope to be testing 1/12th at our new track soon with different tire compounds and if we can get the cars to hook up enough we have enough people to start a class...we just can't get the cars to even come close to hooking up with the tire compounds from our last track. This track doesn't get sugar water sprayed down like I used to do at the track I ran so grip has been difficult to get with foam tires. We're hoping pink rears and purple fronts will work because it is likely tire wear will be too high with white rears.

8 posts on this thread and 5 of them are about BSR tires. Geesh. Counting mine, that's 6 out of 9. Car looks good Jason. Could you explain the differences in the new side links? Why did you ditch the "hockey stick" design?

The change i made to the flex plates are to have the flex plate pivot ball housing go throgh the flex plate so the flex plate now lays at the centerline of the pivot ball. This eliminated the flex in the housing and also strengthened the pivot ball housings. Breakage is greatly reduced. Running them straight back instead of angling in reduced the rear steer and also increased the strength of the plate. Being that the force is placed straight into the flex plate, the pod can not be compressed into the chassis plate. With all of these changes, we managed to increase rotation and free the rear of the car up in high traction conditions yet not shed too much to where it will be hard to drive on asphalt. In a nutshell, the car is more durable, easier to work on, and handles like a ferrari. Just what i was looking for.

The differences between this car and the RR is the pivot mounting location(center and side), shock location, flex plate design, pivot design,Wheelbase change, color change, flex plate height and mounting change,Its lighter and more rigid, and more narrow. The car is designed for the 1S LiPo batteries. The new suspension was changed around the difference in weight placement that we have over the 4 cell cars. Less weight required a different suspension layout.

Is the position of the battery fixed, or can you move it front/rear for rotational changes in the car? thanks
