Well I got to run my misson for the first time yesterday and I must say I am very impressed with the car. It took about a full day of bench racing to get a setup I liked, but in the end I was the fastest belt car there, and qualfied 2nd and finished 2nd in expert stock. The car just needs alittle more speed I think. I dont seem to have the out of the corner punch that a TC3 has. About the only other thing I'd like to try is a oneway, other then that the car was just great. Awesome after one weekend.

Anyone here run Sorex tyres??

What inserts do you generally run in them?? I suspect that most of the time we will be running 24's or 28's here in the UK.

S&N Results.

PW finishes 7th in the Pro Mod and Pro Stock A-Mains.

Jucha finishes 8th on Pro Mod and 9th in Pro Stock A-Mains.

Timmy Heiser (he's 12, has been racing only 8 months and he got his Mission 3 weeks ago) TQ's and wins the first 2 triple A-mains to win the stock class!

David-If you are not running it already, try the 17T drive pulley, clean all the grease from your bearings, oil them with light oil and you should be all set. The Mission drive train may be the most efficient on the market today. You should be able to at least keep up with or out accellerate any car on the market.

David, don't run the front belt too loose or you may loose some top speed because of the belt rubbing the upper and lower chassis plates. Check if the flat side of your belt starts to look different, hard to explain, well, not new.
Otherwise all OK. I won the mod class this weekend. No problems with the car. My set-up is described here somewhere if your interested, it's pretty close to Teemu's, but anyway, if you like an aggressive car you may like it.

>finally<

Got to run the Mission for the first time yesterday. What an impressive chassis. Right out of the box the car was blazingly quick, it easily jumped anyone out of the corners and still had them down the straight as well. The chassis was a bit more aggressive than I was used to, but it WAS nice having all the steering I'd ever want right out of the gate and not having to hunt for it.

I wound up qualifying sixth, but took the lead in the A after about two minutes and drove away for the win. Running just the front swaybar got the car right where I wanted it.

My hat's off to everyone at Schumacher, you folks did a GREAT job on this one.

MattW - We run Sorex over here in Oz. The 36 compound is the tyre of choice for hot weather and has quite a good wear rate but produces a nicely balanced car. Im happy Schumacher are bringing them in and I think you will like them at 24 or 28 level.

I just got back from the Summer Nationals in Canberra Australia. Very big race meet and I finished 7th which I was kinda happy but dissapointed about. I made the A final and raced as high and quick as 3rd but a hung brush cost me one final and 1 qualifier. Could have finished 4th quite easily! With Australias top drivers there I was happy to be going so well, especially as it was my first time at the track and we lost half of practice due to rain.

car was great. Same speed as the top guys but more power out of corners. Setup i got going well. Had trouble through 2-3 corners but that was more me than the car. Happy over all I copuld show the speed of the Mission

I just ran foams on high grip asphalt and I have been asking for help from you guys but have found the final setups that I and everyone else wee using to be quite different. Anyone else used this sort of thing? 30-40wt oil and 2-3 hole pistrons all round. Blue springs and use swaybars to control body roll. It seems we in Oz create very soft sprung cars and control through sway bars. Works really well but am alittle scared of going so far away from all these setup you guys use on similar surfaces. I have tried 60 wt + oil and yellow springs and the car becomes unresponsive.

I too finally got to run my Mission... BY far the fastest TC I have ever driven. Some commented that it looked like I had a 13 or 14 turn modified in it in the stock class. I could pull on anyone out of the turns, and at the end of the straights too!! I only had 1 major parts failure....THE DRIVER...LOL!!!!!

Here's how I ended up---

front-
tires- proline purple 24mm
toe in -1 deg, 0 in-board
caster- 13 deg (all the way back)
chamber- 1 deg neg (no/even tire wear)
sways-connected
kick up- none
ride height 5.5mm
droop- 2.5mm
SHOCKS
springs-blue
oil-45 weight
top- hole 3
bottom-inside hole

rear
tires- proline purple 24mm
toe in- 5deg
chamber- 1deg neg
sways-disconnected
anti- squat- none
ride height- 6mm
droop- 1mm
SHOCKS
springs-blue
oil-45 weight
top- hole 5
bottom- inside hole

electronics
motor- P2K2
Batteries- 2400's
servo- Futaba s9402
speedo- novak tc2
reciever- novak xxtra
gearing 24/86 17 tooth pulley

The car was lightening fast, but a little loose. I want to settle down the rear-end slightly. I am thinking of moving the esc to the area just behind the motor (per xxx-s), reconnect the rear sways, and shorten the wheel base. We have to keep the transponder in the front window, so moving the esc is the only way to get the weight to the rear and the car is currently 1oz. over-weight. I would also like to be able to move the shocks back in on the rear, should I possibly use heavier oil, all around with the front being 10 weight heavier, or just change the front to 55 weight and leave the rear at 45?

Any thoughts?? Thanks

BTW: I ended up with a sacrificed bumper due to being rear-ended as I was breaking into a turn at the end of one of the straights and pushed directly into a concrete wall..... but other than that no damage at all.

GREAT CAR SCHUMACHER!!!!!!!!!

I like HPI inserts in my sorex's, or Echo, with the HPI there is a little air gap though between the tire and insert.

Hello,

I have two Schumachers. One is a SST 99 and the other is an Axis Pro with a spare chassis and top plate and all stock mounting hardware( was converted to aluminum bits by previous owner). I am wondering if I can use the SST's suspension and upgrade it to being an axis. I can almost build another axis but have no suspension.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

I'm back from my first race with the Mission, the Team Orion Summer Nationals in Australia. After building the car it was all good but after racing it I have some issues. Namely, after 15 packs through the car with a stock motor the 20T pulley is starting to distort around the pin. Poor design. The plastic upper shock mounting and the way you have to stretch the lower ball cup everytime you want to change springs and finally, I don't care what you guys say, every TC should have treaded shock bodies. I just cant go back, especially as the Mission sits half a mm lower on the battery side and the smallest shim moves ride hieght by 1mm. On a lesser note of complaint, couldn't the castor and wheelbase spacers have been clips instead for quick and easy adjustment like the Corally, X-ray et al. , and why would a competition car come with setup sheets for a safe and predictable car? Thats not how you go fast!

But lets not forget how good it is. The car was pretty easy to dial, and had excellent cornering abilities. Infact, I'm sure I had one of the best cars at the track (in stock at least). What cost me big was not getting the rollout sorted and not being brave enough to gear up to 40mm rollout on such a hot day. I ended up in the B's, two seconds off A final pace with a 38mm rollout. I was just too scared of destroying a AUS$120 ($230 US) stock motor by cooking it, but it turns out thats what everyone in the A's did. Some guys counld't touch thier motors for 10 mins after a run.
I'm taking the car to the local club race this friday night, so with more experience with the car and the track, I'm looking to do well! I'll post my setup later tonight if anyone is interested.
