I ran the car with rubber tires on carpet for the first time this weekend and ended up with a pretty good setup. I have it posted on my site (www.mo-net.ws) and on www.gearchart.com if your interested.

I run a Hacker motor and have tried both the Hacker comp speedie and the U force, IMO the Uforce is much better being a lot smoother and smaller, i have no trouble fitting the Uforce and a JR PCM receiver on the bottom deck side by side.

If you get the U force try and get the setting software as well, a friend recently let me play, and i dialled in drag brake and dropped the minimum drive value, now it feels very much like an 8 turn in overall performance, much smoother from a stop, the dragbrake effect of a brushed motor, and great top end, with zero maintenance to boot (i have had the same motor for over 2 years)

You will definately need to get the steel front drive shafts, and black rear belt, i run the std spur gear no problem.

Just got back after breaking my Mi2's cherry...thanks for the set-up on your site MO..it was pretty close to being on rails...
learned an important thing..after making an adjustment, if it makes the car handle poorly...fix it immediatly, dont run around trying to compensate....it cost me a front a-arm and a carrier
But....the Mi2 felt a lot better the first time on the track then my TC3 ever did!

Tell them to get the U force, the hacker might be difficult to mount on the car.

Not sure about the Platten motors, i have ran both a 6 and 7 turn hacker, i feel the 7 is an all round better race motor.

Default gearing question

My monster stock was warm after running through a battery pack, should I add a tooth the the pinion so that the motor will be a little more towards the hot side...or is warm where to be?
also, it was only like 55 degrees..so perhaps that had something to do with it just being warm to the touch

Hogdaddy, that's great to hear you like the car. As for the gearing, if it's acceleration good and topping out about 3/4 down the straight, I would leave it. Also, look at the comm wear. If it still looks good then maybe gear up.

Ok, it seemed like it was topping out about 1/2 way down the straight, the comm showed some wear, but not excessive..Ill try to gear up a little on my next outting

The Monster Stock is a weird motor to gear. At S&N track side (Med size carpet track) we had to gear them 7.88:1 to be fast. Thats almost how you gear a 10T mod. At my local track (big asphalt) we gear them 7.20:1. If you over gear them they don't really get that hot and they run really slow. You may be over geared. When over geared they have ok accelleration and no top end.

Today I was geared 95/24 = 7.13 ....
so your saying I should try something in the upper 7's or eights?
If I swap pully's, from the 20 to the 17 tooth one, that will get me in the mid eights.....perhaps Ill try that next time I am at the track..Or am i going the wrong direction?

Where were you at? If you were at speedworld then stay between 7.1-7.4 if you were at the carpet track I think that 7.2 is always perfect there. It all depends on the tarck layout and how you have the motor tuned with the springs and brushes. PM me or stop by my pits if you're ever in stockton and I'll spill what ever info you need that could be of any help to you.

thinking of getting a few motors, a stock or two, and perhaps a 19 turn..
Who makes the best motors at the best price at this time?
