I noticed that the latest lot of T3 chassis are now 2.3, has this changed recently as the one I have is 2.0mm thick or have they always been 2.3 and I happen to have an odd one ??.

Unfortunately we don't often get the pleasure of carpet racing on this side of the planet. I spoke to a fast guy who uses a Smokem and his opinion is that at a bigger event than normal club days, that as the grip comes up from all the cars cleaning the track, the Smokem chassis starts working a little better than the Xray chassis.
As Pablo Diablo mentioned below carpet racing is a rarity over here in Australia. In relation to the width they are both the same width which is quite narrow. The finish and quality of the CF on the Smokem chassis is second to none and as Brad mentions you can see yourself in it.
Agreed with comments above, the reverse of this is that I feel the Exotek tends to over grip the car when the grip comes up due to only being 2.0mm thick.

I must have a odd ball chassis also, my CF is gold, everyone elses car ive seen here and at the track has a great cf look. Its weird

I can say the t3 with the 2.5mm chassis was amazing on carpet for me on high bite carpet. I would do a lap for warm up and maybe make a change. But once I had a setup my car was on rails/ great consistency/ great corner speed/ great grip without scrubbing. I am curious what the next evolution will have.
