Yes, they are too soft for sedan. They become the included set for F104 now.

Exclamation

I'm stuck deciding wether to race 17.5 or scale spec 21.5 with my TA05vII.

The advice I got was to go for a 3.6-3.8 ish FDR for 17.5.
What spur/pinion gear sizes should I purchase?

I didn't get a FDR for the 21.5 scale spec class but hoping that the above FDR for 17.5 might be close??

What spur/pinion gears should I buy if I end up going scale-spec??

I really don't know how big the track is and if there's a lot of tight turns or long straights though.

Any advice helps a lot! Thanks!

hi
I would start with the stock Spec 21.5 first..becuase you can race this class any where..Fastraxx.Fw and 4Season..putting in the 17.5 it is alittle harder to get the car to dialed compare the 21.5 power plant...'
I have the TA05V2 as well.... I would start 3.5FDR for 21.5 motor and then gear up if needed...

I have some parts for sale that are left over from my TA05V2 Build

To get the car dialed via gears u need to find out first if ur motors likes RPM or Torque.
There is a 4 teeth difference between them. I am running a different FDR than the rest of the guys with 17.5 and i can still catch up with them and only come in at 120-150 degrees.

Also Changing the Piston holes and Oil in the front IFS shocks Helps according to track.
U can shim the Ball studs to imitate Shock tower adjustment.

And finally u need to buy Alu Rockers bc Plastic ones have way too much slop.

I got my TA05v2 with IFS Dialed in with Exotek chassis, was able to hang with any of these TC6.1 Schumacher 416 and 417.

Thanks for the advice! And cool, sounds like we'll be racing eachother. I used to race up here with Atomic Hobbies back around 2005 until they closed.

And I would rather race in stock spec because it would be slower and a lot easier for me and also like you said, easier to get the car dialed. but if I get the 17.5 I would be able to swap it into my SC truck and be able to take that to TRCR. Unless I can find a decent 21.5 motor/ESC for a cheap price.

Would a silvercan geared high enough be competitive against 21.5's?

And how do you find the FDR? would I want a larger spur gear and smaller pinion? or would I want the largest size pinion to the smallest size spur gear I can find?

If you buy a Novak ballistic or thunderpower, you can buy just the stator so you can use the same motor for 21.5 and 17.5

The carbon bridge does fit into the v2 steering. I've got it in mine, but I felt I needed to get extra flanged bearings to mirror the ones supplied. If I built my car again though I wouldn't bother with it, instead would just go for the carbon reinforced parts and some bearings instead. I don't think the there's much if any advantage of having the carbon linkage. If anyone wants to see a picture of how it's installed then let me know and I'll pull my chassis brace off and take a photo.

how to find the FDR spur gear divide by pinion x 2.05 internal gear = FDR

If you have the perfect or good silver can , yes ,it is enough be competitive against 21.5 at the med size track ...25.5 motor no problem for silver can keep up...

The 4.9 FDR is a good start in most cases...it best to get the cooling fan so it can keep the motor from getting too hot...
