In the first batch of kits the spool parts are a touch soft. Try the following when building your version one spool.
When building the spool tap the hole in the center of the spool all the way through both sides before attaching the drive cups. This will help make it easier to feel the stopping point of the screw when attaching the cups.
This should provide a more secure lock of the threads.

You must of overtightened them and stripped out the spool somewhat the first time you put them in. I just snugged them up the first time and have run about 20 packs through my car with 10.5 and 13.5 and have not had any spool issues.
Go get some screws with a more course thread, a wood type screw with a bigger diameter and try those. Im sure they will work for the time being.

Making progress with the setup. The car is so smooth and easy to drive fast. I'm really liking it now.

I've got a lot of time on this layout, and spent the last 9 months working on my 416 setup. On the 5th pack through this car, I just matched fast laps with better consistency and a much easier car to drive in general. I'm pretty excited! Anyway, I'll STFU now... just feeling really good now about the decision to try something new. Looking forward to seeing what other people come up with on carpet.

I had the car out for the first time today and all I can say is Josh you da' man. I must admit I was a bit leary of getting away from a car I had 2.5 years invested in but am now happy I did. I can only hope the car is as good on foam as it is on rubber. Guess I'll find out at IIC.
EJ/Mike,
I need at least 3 more kits at Trains. I could sell that if not more right now.

As for the Buggy comment, Yep Sportsman for me! Never ran Nitro of any kind and have raced 3 times in 4 months. No need to go be in the fast guys way. I know where I needed to be.

Resource Site
Hi Guys,
I've knocked up a quick website to store all the Photon setups, build tips, resources, and anything else useful I come across.
http://www.tchub.info/
p.s. the URL is new so it may not have propogated to the US yet

A couple of questions for you guys. First what is the parts support like for this car. Locally I have never seen any TOP products at my LHS. As much as I love the design and like what Josh has done to help develop it, I rest uncertain that I would be able to actually race the car. I am just a club racer and as such I am more aquainted with the walls at my local track. I at least need to know that I can get suspension arm and CVD components.
I am currently running an S400 and Im really happy with the car. However parts support has been lacking for it and I am considering moving to something else. I am thinking of sticking with VTA or RCGT. Part of me thinks it would be overkill to get a kit like the Photon for that purpose, but the other part of me just likes nice gear. Any thoughts???
