...okay, I've been running a 17.5 brushed system w/ 4600MAH battery (no lipo). I love the speed yet am getting a very short run time.

I'd like a longer run time ...I don't mind giving up a little speed for it:
Here's my debate and need some opinions.

Should I go to a:

1) 20t brushed? -will it be much slower? I don't mind giving up some speed for longer run times ...yet how much longer will i get going from 17.5 to 20 brushed?

-OR-

2) ditch brushed and get a brushless set up w/ lipo power?
...if brushless, is 17.5 still good? -I'd either go for the Speed Passion citrix combo unit for around $90 or there is a Novak 17t system for $150.

Do lipo's give considerable more run time? -I don't want to spend several hundred bucks to just get an extra minute,

Sounds to me that your batter is shot. On a 17T brushed you should be getting a very long running time on a 4600 mah.

Team Green,

Where did you get the SSG lower deck?

that's what I thought.
I have the same 4600mah battery in my crawler and get 45min's of run time. (totally diff' motor of course).

I am going to swap batteries and see they sold me a bad battery.

..yet may say screw it all and go brushless + lipo ...still deciding.

giantzack,
..nice body, ...where did you find it?

Okay, still trying to decide on a good motor/esc setup.
I have a brushed motor in, but that was because it's what I had available ...but won't work for longterm. Currently I have a 17.5t brushed, it's plenty fast ...in fact maybe even a tad too fast. I find I keep running out of space and it's hard to get to full speed.

In my searching for the perfect motor, I found this
"Fuze" by Dynomite, $115 (the company selling this combo, rpphobby is very reputable, I order many parts for my crawler from them, ...they are pretty selective about what they sell, -not a warehouse store that sells everything):
http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/dyn3736c.htm

..and here is the co's product info on the setup:
http://www.dynamiterc.com/Fuze/

looking at the spec's it seems about right.
Does anyone have any info about this setup? for the price, seems like a great deal, ...but is it too good of a deal?

What if it's a bad motor with brushes that are starting to hang? Try a spare battery and then a spare motor to see which is the problem.

I would pick up a SpeedPassion Scirtix system for about $80. It is sensored which means it will have no cogging issues like those sensorless systems have. Brushless cogging is so annoying! The ESC is pretty small too for a brushless.

thanks,...yeah, i've had that setup on my radar as well. cogging issues?, -didn't know about that. good to know (and avoid).

as for my currrent short run times, i am not even going to try to figure it out as i really don't want to run brushed and NMH any longer.

The races from last Friday only used up 949-1019mah per heat. Running a brushed 30t and a 4000mah lipo on stock gearing.
