Ok so I have the Chassis kit I am going to get: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/30473

Now all I need is an ESC and radio equipment. I have a 540 motor already. Will I need a pinion gear? IS there anything else I'll need?

Any recommendations for an ESC and Radio stuff?

Or I could just get the RTR? Bear in mind I have a budget of around $400AU - an absoulute maximum of $500AU.

you'll still need

-esc
-radio
-charger
-batts

out of all those things, i think it's the batts and charger that you need to invest more on. because they are the ones that you would carry over the next class in case you want to jump to other classes.

how many turns are you running btw? ''coz "540" class is kinda broad...

Umm I don't know how many turns all I know is it is the Johnson 540 motor. I believe it is 27T but I am not sure.

I already have 3 batts and a charger but I think I am going to buy new stuff cause they are a little old.

at our club every is running lipos now, generally you will only need 1 for 540 as it doesnt suck much out of the battery, but 2 lipos would be better. i recommend you buy your charger and lipo from this store

feralbatteries.com.au

he is in nsw and will do delivery, here is what i would recommend you buy from him:

EP400025C - EP 4000 25C Hard Case Lipo x1

IMAXA6 - Imax A6 AC DC chargerx1
* this charger as a built-in power supply so you dont have to spend another $100 on a powersupply*

no speedy is cheap these days, your best off with a brushless speed control cause u never know when u might step up to stock and everyone runs brushless now.

feral has:
TWRB50ESC17.5 - Team Wave RB50 ESC Combo with 17.5 motor for $320 which is a realy good price, and also comes with your 17.5 incase you want to step up to stock.

our club has 3PM'S for sale with built in spektrum so you dont have to worry about clashing with anyone else. they price around $240 and come with servos

generally people run high rollouts for the 540 motor, bring your car to me when u have it al ready and i can sort out the pinion problem for you as there is a lot to tell you about it.

i know for a fact that the hotbodies cyclone doesnt come with tyres either, so you might want to purchase just one set from our club store as well, a set will cost around $40

hope this has answered all your questions.

nick.

I recommend the plain vanilla TA05 or TA05 IFS for 540 class. The kit comes with the motor, I've never replaced a single part on my TA05 (except the belts, which wore out after 2 years) despite some pretty bad crashes. I also have a TA05R and I love that car too but I broke an arm once in a crash. Just my $.02.

I don't know now. This is just making it harder to decide. The TA05 kit is looking more inviting being the cheaper option.

i dont wanna make your decision any harder, but it might make up your mind, no1 in our club drives a tamiya, and there is only one guy who drive a cyclone, and i know he has heaps of spare parts.

I bought a Spektrum Dx2.0 some people on here don't like them, but $165 for 2.4 and a metal gear servo- good enough for me- have 2 of them.

As far as a charger in that price range, I'd go Hyperion 606i its ac/dc with balancer in it.
