Does it work ok? Last I read orion didnt recommend using mrc chargers on their batteries. As a matter of fact it said that in the paperwork that came with the orion packs.

Yes mate, the lrp has the lipo cutoff function.
You can also disable it if you are running nimh.

The 989 works fine with orion batts. The older MRC chargers were crap, but the 989 is alot better, and doesnt have the problems that the old ones did

I have used my MRC 989 since it came out, havent blown a lipo yet, and I have many many lipos around

If you are ordering from Tower, this balancer works great with Orion Lipos

It works for both charging and discharging (it only discharges the cells until the voltage is equalized between them).
