Would the damage show with excessive heat? Or would it be a silent killer?

Hmm, odd. I know for a fact I was overtimed, but the motor never got above 145*F and the ESC never even really got warm.

Anyone happen to know what the factory timing on a Novak SS 17.5 is?

It will smell like burnt electronics, best way to describe it.

Usually if its hot on the track it will fade also.

Is the smell the ESC or the motor? I'm not too worried about the motor. I've got new ones coming soon. But the ESC is brand new!

Never checked the LED's, but the motor got up to 140*F. Smelt a bit funny.

Thats not hot at all. I find that motors run best between 150-170, 180 is starting to get pretty warm and anything over 205 and you risk debonding.
