JB, we got it a couple days ago, Shawn's doing some testing on it, we'll let you know.

Nexus I'm sure Shawn will tell you all you want to know about the Hyperion EOS6010I because its on his bench as we speak.

Skill....I told you so

dannybcaitlyn, Not sure I'll look into it with Shawn this week

Thanks Adam...actually just picked up an ICE for cheap so skip the charger info :P

Even though I know you guys say we don't need to balance I'll probably pickup the Hyperion balancer for the Core 5000. What ever happened to the 3600 or something Shawn mentioned before.

Send a Core to Tamiya so they can allow that sucker in TCS!

Shawn has already stated that the 20C rating is cautious at best.
Why do you need 25C when the Core could well be the best pack out there?

Nexus:
I got a pre-production prototype of the 0610i laid on me at IHobby, and I really like it a lot. Like Adam mentioned, we've been using it for charging duty during SP testing and looking at CORE packs.

The LBA balancer is one of the more standard/accepted/loved balancing systems in electric aircraft circles. Having it integrated right into a charger is a real bonus.

I'll check on the 10/300 rating on Monday. (like I've said, I don't drink the cool-aid on balancing)

Jaybee:
Got it, looking at it.

Danny:
Be careful looking for the highest C rating available. It's just a number on the label, or a number in the ad until someone credible puts it to the test. I can count the number of people who have the onions and the equipment to document 100+ amp discharges on about one and a half hands. My suggestion is that you buy your Lipos from those people with intimate knowlege and understanding of the technology, what it means to our sport, and are thus capable of backing you 100% with intelligent customer support.

No direct experience with Integy chargers here, but let's say they come from "good parents"...

Hey shawn, while i do prefer my core over my orion 4800 pack , the racers in my area are still leaning towards a good NIMH pack in our stock class . Even though lipos are legal(we do have to meet weight). Now its a different story for mod. I'm looking for a Lipo that can compete with the strong NIMH packs in stock. Orion has just come out with 3600's with a 25C rating that say they are stronger. Are they? I don't know haven't tested any. But if they are will core have an Answer?

Someone correct my math if I am wrong here . .

Lets make a conservative estimation that the CORE 5000 has a true 20C capability. And lets assume that the Orion 3600 has a true 25C capability. The Orion would be able to sustain a 90 amp draw while the CORE would handle 100 amps. It would seem that the CORE IS the answer.

There is nothing wrong with your maths I just dont think people understand the relationship between the capacity (5000) and the rating (20C).
The higher the capacity eg if all Lipos were 20C the higher constant amps can be.

Correct guys, take the mah x C rating to find peak capable amp delivery. Again, providing you can trust the given C rating.

Can anyone tell me if the new Core 5000 comes with deans? Also what does one do if there is some issue with needing to solder a new or longer lead to a lipo since it's in a hard case.. is there any way to repair / lengthen them?

hey kevin, the lead on the core comes with a deans, its more the long enough for any car, JB shorten his, i left mine alone. can't imagine the leads wearing out and needing changing, i guess if you cut them short for one car they could be to short for another, but then you would just use longer wires on the speedo. anyway, come by my pit, i have one you can check out,

i got your pm, not sure about tomorrow, may be going to TRCR to get dirty.
