We never had problems with the duraluminum spool in 10.5 or higher motor classes. On rubber it was ok in mod too, but if you have a bad crash it can break or bend like any other part so keep it on the black stuff
Remember using a spool does wear out the front drive parts more then a diff. or one-way, so you need to make sure all parts are lubed and checked regularly.
Good Luck

The RDX had ultra low roll center mounts. You could run those flipped upside down for extra height.

I ran a spool down in durbz to try it out a while ago.
Also why didn't you ask me at the track, I can show you how to change the roll center I got all the parts you need to make fine adjustments on it. If I see you at bedfordview I will show you, otherwise see you at the K90 nationals.

You could try building a slipper spool. Basically a diff without the diff balls. The TC5 slipper pads might fit the diff to use in place of the metal diff rings. Or you can use those and just crank it down. Then when you hit it will just shift the diff rather then break the blades. I've used it in a TC5 and built one for a Tamiya car and it worked well in both.

Thanks Bill will try this soon
E-clip,
I run the short wheelbase on my Phi everywhere...carpet and asphalt.
Parts needed:
Corally TC79670 Pulley 36 teeth for LW differential (rear)
Corally TC79671 Pulley 36 teeth for duraluminium spool / front 1-way
Tamiya TRF415 Low Friction Belt (Rear)
Use the standard Corally RDX Phi front belt with the above.
I also like the narrow steering blocks over the standard ones to gain more steering.
Bill
