Yeah, thats a bummer. Let us know what you find! I'm going to be running more asphalt/rubber tires here soon so I'm sure that will come up in the process.

Any ideas on a target gear ratio for a brushed stock motor with lipo on a short track on rubber?

Can you be more specific to which stock motor and if you are running foam (and what dia) or rubber tires?

rubber tires, and a putnam binary quad mag. I haven't run stock in 10 years or so but I probably want to be slightly over geared and I'll just drive to keep the momentum up.

Ok... so these were a really high rpm motor... try around a 8.5 final drive ratio. That should get you somewhere in the ballpark.

Excellent, thanks.. gear ratios have changed a lot and I probably wouldn't have even tried 8.5, the last time I raced anything electric was at the 2004 nationals with a 10 turn and a half prototype yokomo.. I thought about running that car, but the corally is sooooooooo much better in every way.. You guys have it easy these days especially with brushless and lipo.

Red face Body Posts

I'm new to racing and have a PHI, I'm having trouble with the threaded body posts. My Recoil and TAO5 both have the "pin-type" body posts that seem a lot easier to deal with. I didn't see any pin-type posts on the Corally site. Can some one tell me:
1) If I can get pin-type body posts for my PHI, or
2) Hints on using the threaded posts that I have. They are slow and take more work than using the body pins.
Thanks, from a NooB

You can replace the thread type with pin type. Just get some HPI or Xray "FRONT" mount kits and you will be fine.

The trick to the thread type is to cut them short! Cut the post just tall enough that you only have to thread the top on maybe 5-6 turns. The more you use them the easier they get thread on.

Smile Body posts

Thanks Imprsme. I will hunt down the pin type as well as cutting down the threaded posts that I have.

I prefer the HPI 16507 body posts. They come packaged in pairs at about $3.50 a set.

The other thing I do is add a fifth body post at the front hole in the top deck. For that fifth post, I do use a cutdown Corally post and nut. This allows you to adjust the fifth post height with the nut. Placement of this post stops your body from flexing downward just ahead of the windshield which saves you from getting those nasty cracks at the tops of the front wheel wells. It is a old Matt Francis (sorry Matt) trick that makes a lot of sense to me because my car bodies last longer.
