cooked battery
hi everyone newbie here
can anyone explain how to have a modified car and not cook the battery.
bought myself a msonik 15turn esc and venom 15 d turn motor.
this all ran fine the first few goes on an old 1700 nicd so i toddled of to the lhs cash in hand to get battery with some punch.
i got myself a team orion 2400 nicd ("because they dump the current faster")
as advised buy dude behind counter . this thing got fried and stuffed in about 3 to 4 goes . i put the car in a race situation to give it a good test the pack got that hot i couldn`t hold it . now it holds bugger all charge the bottom 2 cells get the hottest. so now the 15 turn is in the bottom of the spares box.

there could be many reasons why.
I would say:
1. check if your gearing is correct
2. check if your drive train is free spinning
3. use a deans connector instead of a "tamiya style" plug (a white plastic shell connector)
there could also be defective cells inside your battery pack. its been a while since nicd 2400 mah batteries were popular, it may be no surprise that these cells were sitting and that some cells may have become defective.
my personal guess would be gearing. Your car may not be properly geared for a 15T motor, because it was using a different motor previously.
