There is an Area 51/TC5 ad with black painted body (absolutely no details) on the back cover of RCCA that came in the mail today.

Makes be quiver in anticipation - no wait, maybe that's the -2 degree temperature I wke up to this morning....

Anyway, I can't wait.

I own 2 AE cars and 2 trucks... I figure that, given the customers provide the cash flow, the pro drivers are the team flagship ... the WE is a nice way to look at it !

So,

How many of you guys plan on running the car on Carpet with rubber tires and how many with foam. US drivers would you like to see more races with rubber tires on carpet?

Roll call please.

Rick,

You said that you ran a thiicker upper plate, do know if that Factory Team part will be out when the car is released or later on down the line?

Thanks

Kevin Boyle

I don't see the car being out in time to run carpet this season. But next season I'll run whatever the crowd I race with wants to run. I would prefer foam.
It looks like the car favors rubber tires, but I'm just guessing by the recent race results.

I would say.. get the asphalt chassis out for this season and leave the carpet chassis work to BMI...

This is the part that REALLY sucks.
I know you guys are all about making a buck, but why do companies (AE is famous for this) work on a car to get it dialed and then when it's time for production they cheap out on the parts (especially the bearings) ; yet charge a premium price.

And then, maybe a year down the road they finally release the "good" "Factory" parts and charge an even more premium price

Why not just make a good car and sell it?
Obviously there will be rolling changes to improve the design over time; but things like aluminum hex's instead of plastic, sway-bars, or any of the aluminum or trick parts that you use in the prototypes, but leave off the production car

You got me the last two times AE
no more no more

Rubber carpet until it warms up and then rubber asphalt.

Also i would like to run stock foam at some big races this year so that will come into play as well.

Default tc5

Sean B. you are so correct there.

If they dont make the FT available straight away at a reasonable price I will continue running my TC3 instead and wait for a TC5 on the second hand market.

I'm just gonna go a step further, not even CONSIDER buying one until I've seen it in the hands of more AVERAGE racers, only watching factory guys run it doesn't tell me much about it, but if it does well in the hands of "mortals", then I'll think about it......

To clarify, the top plate I use is the standard plate that will come with the car. A more flexible plate (thinner, different design) could be used for asphalt or rubber on carpet if more traction was necessary.
