Mind blowing update from Mugen! The design details are incredible on this car.

Hi Eric

Thank you fit the opportunity to ask questions. Can you tell us why Mugen opted for an upper arm as apposed to a single link design (or scissor double like AMX)?

I think they tried to make the suspension as light and stiff as possible, also it is very easy for everyone to adjust caster and camber without any problems, in a very simple and easy way! With the „scissor double like amx“ you have to always double check caster and camber when adjusting one of them.

Hi Eric!
first of all, nice construction and interesting car. I have some questions.
1. What is the main reason why mtc1 was not competitive and how did you think in the production of the new car?
2. What is the main advantage of the new rear body mount?

Thank you for the support and good luck in the competitions.

I see the another Gizmo inspired creation! I truly want to see how this chassis handles on carpet tracks especially in the USA.

Hey ashori,

1) well thats a difficult question. The competition in this class is very high, so small details can make a big difference. For myself I would say that the car was quite competitive on asphalt, but we struggled a bit on carpet. As our last Update for MTC1 was back in October 2018, we also stopped progressing in development, because it was clear that we need to change some fundamental things on the car. The result is a all new car. It felt really really good on Asphalt and carpet. Very easy to drive, outstanding quality and high cornerspeed.

2) its a center of gravity thing

Strange combination of choices but why not. my main concerns would be the lower arms begin so far from the chassis. Clearly reduce the setup window of roll centers...
The HMX shock support was quickly replaced if I remember correctly... So...

.....well there is MSRP (probably $1200) and then street price. Remember it includes the rear toe/passive steering as Std which is easily a $100 add on for the likes of Yokomo.

Looking at this car it seems all corners use the same parts that can keep the production costs low so I think in euro's the introduction price will be arround 600 euro (inc vat)

Totally Agree

Lower CG
Centralizing Mass Towards the middle of the car
= Lower Polar Moment of Inertia = Good

I noticed this with my Gizmo with the high angle shocks, the turn in and “feel” is very different to traditional cars. I am still finding the setup window but low CG and weight moved inwards cannot be underestimated. You don’t want weight hanging off the ends of the car. The picture of the rear tells a lot.
This is very high level weight management...
