Cub86 posted the question: Hi. I'm struggling to understand the lay down situation. I run on high bite damp smooth clay and think the conversation would help on my surface but from what I'm reading I need to buy the lay down kit tlr338004. And the dirt gear case tlr332063. But do I really need both from what I've read the dirt case is 1-2mm higher anyway and u don't use the +3mm hubs or the front pivot hrc or Hrc mod. So is the dirt lay down kit tlr332063 is all that's needed to get me a lay down set up that's suited for clay With the components and car I already have. And if I only get the dirt case is there any problems that will need to be addressed IE.. bone plunge . I do know I'll need 1mm spacers on the waterfall to clear the battery. Thanks guys really trying to get my head around this.

Franks response:
Laydown Conversion will work great by itself. You run the aluminum +3mm hubs, the diff is +3.5mm, and you run the HRC front setup. Just follow a setup sheet from tlracing.com (Frank Root).

Dirt Tranny has the diff at the same height as the standard tranny case, and works with the standard plastic hubs. Both are +/- 0mm from stock. When you run this, no need to run the HRC front mod either.

I've found the stock laydown conversion parts to work great for most tracks. The dirt tranny is a great tuning option, but definitely not 'required'.

Something I made, pretty basic. Just to give people an idea.

Vito, are you talking about the black rectangle that has the 0 marking on it? If so that is to replace the 1* piece that goes in the rear camber mount. It's a tuning aid that changes how the rear of the car rolls

Does anyone have any feedback with running this car in direct comparison to a b5ml? Specifically 17.5.

It is my plan to run a slipper eliminator in stock also. I'm going exotek and adding TLR aluminum gear in the trans. Have you had any drive train issues doing that?
I plan on running just stock with this car for now. I figured I can always throw the slipper on and throw a 6.5 in for mod too.

I plan on getting down to G.R. to race some time in the near future.

either way...it depends on how much wing angle you are looking for. On top equals 4°, on bottom you get either 0° or 8°.

It's called the S2. Similar to what was run at Worlds. Should be coming out around the beginning of the year.

The entire diff and eliminator came out of my old 22 when running stock in that car and never had a failure. Maybe bad on some super high bite but here it wasn't a problem.

Thanks Matt. I don't mind the stock body... except the absolutely HUGE front windshield. Looking forward for availability of the S2 body

Cool, glad to hear. I do plan on running it on carpet, I'll have a complete trans ready just in case this happens.

Can anyone tell me if the 2.0 diff is a drop it for the 3.0? I have several of them laying around ready to throw in just in case.
