Durango DEX210 Thread
Caster is an aspect of fine tuning. When you turn the wheels, the more caster you have the further over the wheels lay. The goal is to get the maximum amount of tire tread on the track. On a soft loamy track, you might need 30° since the tires will dig in. On a high grip blue groove track, you may need far less since more would only cause you to ride up on the edges of the front tires in a corner. I go back and forth on this depending on the surface but on real high grip it's always going to be less than on softer surfaces. Don't be afraid to go lower.
Im sure this has been mentioned but I just picked one of these up at a good price used and have a couple questions.
1. Is the MM on this designed to be run with 4 gears! Or can you also set it up with 3 gears? I would think so but after reviewing the manual not sure.
2. Is the a 12mm hex conversion for the front wheels?
Thanks excited to try this out. Like the design and looks like making changes are really simple and not a complete PITA compared to some other buggies!

The 12MM hexes are included in the V3 model, but if you have the older versions you'll need to get some parts to make the 12mm conversion happen. Exotek makes hexes for the rear along with front titanium axles. You can use Associated front hex axles but I believe it makes the car 1mm narrower in the front, but they are cheaper. You'll also need the front spindles for the SC210/ST210 trucks. its fixed at 3mm trail but that's what most people end up running on this car anyway. Here is the part number for the Durango part - TD330382 or you can do Exotek http://www.exotekracing.com/desc210-...steering-hubs/

I use the AE axles and they work great. and are cheap for sure, got like 2 of them shipped for less than the price of 1 pair of them new from say tower hobbies.
Thanks all for the advice/suggestions! I think I am gonna set this up for Stock Class 17.5. Any suggestions on ESC/Motor combos that are competitive but don't break the bank? I know that is asking alot but there is some good stuff out there that isn't that bad in price.
One person told me to just stick with ORION Stock class ESC or am I better of getting the ESC that can also run the modified motors and run that in BLINKY??? I think that is correct. LOL! Blinky means that the ESC is automatically detuned to the ROAR sanctioned 17.5/Stock specs and nothing more! Or are there some other ESC's that offer the same performance for a better value?
Another suggestion was to get the TRINITY 24K motor for around $95 but have seen the reviews on the ECO Power from AMain and they seem to be pretty positive and the price is pretty nice and I like the Dual port on the back a whole lot!
The 210 that I bought is used but it is like a month old. Comes with the Lunsford Titanium TB and Ti screw kit. Some Exotek suff. Spare Ball Diff and some other spares I believe. It also has a conversion that the previous owner did to run the shorty sideways as far back as possible in MM. However, I really like what Wally came up with and how he did his conversion so I may be changing that aspect of the car but otherwise gonna get the electronics and run it!
I am getting back into this so bear with my stupid questions that are simple knowledge to all of you.

Front 12mm hexes: like what Cain and laker said: the Associated B5 front axels fit perfect. I just got the steal ones and they are the same width, like 9 dollars. I tried the -1mm aluminum ones but had to much tire rub.

are there any other manufacturers who have a similar dimension of the shock eyelet that goes on the thread part of the shock shaft as shown in this part tree for # TD330591 ?

Edit: the Dex and Traxxas are the same.

I picked up a set of ball differential plates from a seller off eBay. The showed up today and it looks like they're rusty in some places. The packaging is sealed so I'm not sure what the deal is. Has anyone else seen this?
I can't find 14mm plastic hexes for the rear wheels. All I can find are the 10,00$ aluminum ones. Anyone know where I can get the original kit style hexes?
Edit: The problem is I am bad at English. and hey are package with shock collars. Also they are almost the same price as aluminum.

Tower has them $7.99
I have the green ECO 17.5 and a hobbywing just stock Esc in my new 210v2. They work well in this buggy. I had to go to the 72t spur with 30 pinion, 69t that a lot of people use in stock, could not get the mesh right with anything smaller than a 32t pinion. It all worked out good, plenty of speed at my track. Most of us are running 17/18 second laps for fastest times.

good stuff. pics?
Cain: If you are talking about me posting pictures someone will need to tell me how to do that. Also the only camera I have is my cell phone. If you were not talking to me then no problem.
