This is our 1/18 scale race track. It keeps the racing cheap, extremely competitive, and easily accessed by being indoors in a small space. We have had up to 9 cars racing at once on this track and we could fit 10 (we just need to find a 10th driver). Its simply wall paint that's been painted on a concrete floor and it produces some fantastic racing without taking a heavy toll on the cars. The outside lanes are 28in wide, the infield lane width is 22in wide. Top speed of the cars at the end of the straight away is 12mph (more than fast enough for this racing) and our faster lap times are in the 11.6 second range depending on the layout. Penny's car with the body off of it. Most of us are using li-po now but to some extent the AAs are still better for our application. The AA batteries gave us over 2 hours straight of run time but they just take up to much space. The li-po batteries still have tons of run time (well over 1 hour) with our low power setups. Some of us are using brushless but the brushed speed controls still seem to give us the best throttle response. Speed is limited and matched between the cars using the transmitters EPA adjustment. You can see our old custom motor mount (we've made a new and much better mount out of carbon fiber) and our custom designed leaf spring suspension. Our suspension offers absolutely ZERO friction in the suspension unlike the stock springs. The result is a car that drives straight, corners smoothly and handles consistently! There were some other updates to the springs that aren't in this picture as well. We're also using the "pro" Xray foam tires now. Another huge upgrade is in the works and the first prototype was cut out of carbon fiber from the CNC machine not to long ago. It will give us (and anyone else) much more options for the chassis layout along with some other body options in the future.
