I assembled mine with silicon o rings (Part 53574 TRF Damper Rod Guide Set) rather than the kit red o rings which are too small and leak.

OK, careful rub down with 1500 grade wet and dry and it's ready for some lacquer coat...

OK, lacquer coat is gradually getting built up, allowed to dry, rubbed down with 1500 grade wet and dry (used wet) and next coat applied. Last coat is a wet coat, left to harden over a few days and then given a very light rub down ready for polishing in a few weeks.

The rear lights were painted on the inside using clear Orange and Red. True to 60's & 70's bugs, tops are orange, then red for the middle, clear at the bottom

I'm no artist, but the driver is worth painting carefully. The eyes were really hard to do - even using a cocktail stick seemed like the point was to big.

Looking really nice! I don't slide my decals like others do - I'm not happy leaving the stickers sit on top of soapy water. It's harder to do, but I'm certain if you place the stickers on without water, the hold on for longer without peeling or going cloudy.
