Hey jarred, just a quick question on your shock position settings,, Why have the shocks in top holes on tower and the outside holes on the arms? less droop?

Also how much did you dremel off the c hub as i was thinking about doing that a while ago but thought the driveshaft would be at too big an angle at full throw.

Jarred King 05-25-2010 04:46 PM

Juz,

No real reason why i kept the shock on the top row of holes. THats kit setup. I usually just make changes to the bottom of the shock first and see how it effects the car then i change the top. But yes it will give you less droop. Which helped.

I dremelled the caster blocks and the c-hub itself only 0.5 of a mm. This gave the car awesome steering.

Xray 808 Tips & Tricks

Hi Guys
just wanted to start a thread on all the tricks and tips on building or maintaining a 808 buggy

l will start building mine next week and l was wondering if there's anything l should look out for or modify while lm building it

l recall Ari saying something about the bearing seals but l cant remember what it was

cheeres

Daryl, just merged your thread with the this one, keep things cleaner.

Here's some things we do:

Main transmission Diff Bearings Font & Rear:
Remove all seals of the diff bearings, just leave the one thats closest to the hole for the drive shaft. This stops the seals from falling out and getting chewed up in the gears. Also lets the oil pass through the bearings which helps them last longer. Make sure you maintain these regularly, clean them with spray cleaner and regrease them with HUDY Grease #106222

Motor Angle:
Make sure you pay close attention to the angle of the motor, front points to the centre line of the car, if you run the motor straight like most cars you will replace clutch bearings every meeting.

Add Weight:
I have added weight to the right side of the car. 20Grams inside the radio box next to the receiver on the furthest to the outside of the car. Also 20Grams in the Front right next to the Steering Servo, this helps ballance the car, helps keep the car flat over jumps and steer evenly left to right.

Above would be the out of the ordinary things that you may not realize, here are a couple of must have options for the car.

++ 12 Degree Catser Blocks - Car comes with 10Degree and they dont really work on our tracks. #352213 Left #352223 Right

++ 10 Hole Pistons - These new pistion really help settle the car down and make it easier to drive in rough conditions. #358034

++ Front Active Diff - If you are looking for more steering or you run on a tight track the Active diff is a great option #355102

++ One Piece Engine Mount - Makes life soooo much easier when replacing clutches etc.

That should just about cover it, let us know if you have any other questions.

Regards
Ari

Thanks Ari for the speedy reply
it's good to see the product finally has the backup it deserves
looking forward to hitting the track again with a 808:nod:

Only just noticed on jarreds setup that he was using 15k in centre and 10k in the front, jeez that must of been a handful to control.

I tried it last year at ACT 10k in front and 10k in centre and found it hard to handle.

Hey jarred how did you like the 808 compared with the buggy you used to drive?

rcmad2700 05-28-2010 12:04 AM

hey iam using 10 10 5 in my 808 in canberra and am doing verry well with it down here
