Default Ride height reminder

Almost forgot, and thanks to Erik for asking.

Foam tire classes run here at 3mm minimum ( 3.5 suggested) and rubber tire classes run at 5mm (5.5 suggested).

These are house rules.

Will racers be allowed to race a third class? I've seen mention of a rule change from 2 to 3, but can't find it in the official TCS rules.

Thanks.

Seems to be part of the "Phantom" rules package some that were used @ and posted after Omaha. The 3rd class was stated acceptable by track owner Tim Ski and Whippler yet never posted. If The Track added a rally class, 2WD offroad or stadium truck class then like Trackside it seems that you could run a 3rd specialty class. As of right now, NO seems to be the final answer, unless it is posted as a change.

Questions?? Mini tires

Does the track shop have the pre mount tires for the mini class? Or, are the mini's exempt from the pre mount rule like GT1, GT2, GT3 and FWD since this is a carpet venue?

TCS rules for mini on carpet require the premounts - there is no exemption for minis like there is for the sedans you mentioned.

Looks like I'm gonna need some premounted tires for my mini. Will Harbor Hobbies have these in stock for the race, or do I need to find them somewhere else?

F1 racers be aware that "wide" F104 cars will be allowed with the appropriate wide body, and F103 tires/front end parts.

"F-1 FOAM

Legal chassis platform: F104, F104W and F104WGP........

.....F104 standard chassis cars may only use F104 FOAM tires and wheels. F104 FOAM Item #’s include: 54167, 54168, 51384 and 51385. F104W and F104WGP chassis cars may only use F103 FOAM tires and wheels: F103 FOAM Item #’s include: 54135, 84097, 84096, 84095 and 84094. Note: FOAM tires may only be used for Indoor Carpet track TCS races.
Mixing and matching F103 and F104 foam rubber is not allowed..........

....F104 standard chassis cars are allowed to add the F103 front end to make them F104W or F104WGP version chassis machines. Conversely, F104W and F104WGP chassis cars may use the F104 front end to make them standard F104 chassis machines. "

Hey guys,

Building the M05 with a 17.5t, are you guys using the 20t pinion?

And also, anybody who has a extra Touring body for GT2 let me know. I will pay for it. I am doing TCS on a budget this year with loaner cars. THANKS.

And to further add to the confusion, don't forget about the body issue if you are converting an F104 to a F104W:

"People who are racing F104W’s or F104WGP’s must use retro bodies. It’s not legal to run a Ferrari F60, MCLAREN MP4-24 or F104 Pro body on a F104W or F104WGP. (Just in case anyone wondered)" (quote from Fred Medel - TamiyaUSA on the TCS thread)

So now I have to buy a f104w body if I convert my f104 to a f104w. If I leave it a f104 I have no chance to be competitive? Now I'm having second thoughts about this race. They should keep it pure f104. Arrrrrrgggg!

Here are the tire rules from the Tamiya USA/TCS site:

Tires and Wheels

Tire conditioners are allowed on rubber/foam tires in all classes, but may be restricted at certain venues. (Some TCS host sites do not allow additives due to ventilation issues) Tires may not enter the TECH inspection area in a wet condition.

Tire Tech Rule: In order to keep tech moving quickly and smoothly, tire warmers are not allowed in the tech inspection area. They may be used after the car has passed technical inspection.

It is not permitted or legal to drill extra vent holes on the vehicles wheels for the purpose of altering the performance and grip level of the tire. Enlarging the existing vent hole is also illegal.

Any tire insert may be used in the open Tamiya rubber tire classes. “Spec” pre-mounted rubber tire classes may not remove the installed Tamiya insert. Running rubber tires with no inserts is permitted and legal in the open tire classes.

GT-3, GT-2, GT-1 and FWD must use Tamiya’s pre-mounted and glued spec tire/wheel. Items: 1015 Tamiya Pre-Mounted Tires Type B3 (24mm) and item 1030 Tamiya Pre-Mounted tires Type-A (24mm). NOTE: The B3 tire set (item 1015) comes with 5-spoke, gunmetal color wheels unique to the pre-mount set. (Pre-Assembled components: 53705, 53582, 53471) The Type-A tire (item 1030) is mounted on a standard 0-offset dish white wheel with hard insert (Pre-Assembled components: 53433/53435/53475). (Carpet track locations are exempt from this rule) Carpet track locations may use any Tamiya 24 mm tires and wheels. (Racers tip: The new C type compound is recommended for carpet tracks)

M-Chassis classes must use the Spec 60D Pre-mounted tire sets available. Items: 1016 (Super Grip Radial w/foam insert-firm), 1028 (60D Type-A w/foam insert soft) and 1029 (60D Type-A w/foam insert hard) All tires are mounted on Suzuki Swift wheels.

Here is the URL link if you want to look at all of the TCS rules:

http://www.tamiyausa.com/tcs/index.php

As always, if you still have questions, your best bet is to ask Erik at the shop

Thanks for the info. From the wall of text I it sounds like if it is a 24mm rim it is ok. I just remember last year spoked it was spoked rims. Also Eric started this thread so I assumed this was a good place to ask.

Please pardon another newbie question...I see this race is 2 days, saturday qualifying and sunday race. Is there any "last chance" qualifying for people that cant make it on saturday?

Thanks in advance
